FEMME FATALES: "LIBRA"

Cinemax has released two images and a description from "Libra," the comic book-inspired season finale of Femme Fatales created by comics veteran Bob Layton.

Cinemax has also released its extended sizzle reel from Comic-Con International. To watch the video, CLICK HERE.

In "Libra," Betsy Rue form My Bloody Valentine 3-D stars as the titular black spandex clad heroine. Also appearing are Adam Huss, Steve Railsback, Ilia Volok and Jeff Fahey.

Here's how the episode is described:

"A woman creates her own superhero identity to avenge the death of her mother at the hands of her gangster father."

The episode has a story by Layton and a teleplay by Buckaroo Zang. It was directed by Robert Meyer Burnett.

"Libra" will premiere on Friday, August 10.

ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN: "BEETLE MANIA"

Marvel has released a clip from "Beetle Mania," the episode of Ultimate Spider-Man premiering on Disney XD on Sunday.

Here's how the episode is described:

"Spider-Man is put on a S.H.I.E.L.D. security detail to protect his worst critic, J. Jonah Jameson, from a high-tech enemy. But things get personal for Spidey when he must also save Mary Jane from The Beetle."

JIMMY PALMIOTTI TALKS ALL-STAR WESTERN

BRIEFLY

* Image Comics has announced an August 19 release date and unveiled the cover for the second printing for Chew: Secret Agent Poyo #1.

Image did not reveal the initial print run of the book.

* The Season 2 premiere of Syfy's Alphas on Monday drew 1.7 million total viewers, according to the network.

The premiere was up double digits in ratings compared to the show's Season 1 finale across all key demograpics, including 24 percent in Adults 18-49, 25 percent in Adults 25-54 and 50 percent in total viewers.
