LIQUID COMICS' COMING OF RAGE

Liquid Comics has announced a new graphic novel, Coming of Rage, created by filmmaker Wes Craven and written by Steve Niles.

"I'm thrilled to be working with Steve Niles, since I've admired his work for so long," Craven said. "And the concept behind Coming of Rage is one I've been dying to explore. Steve has raised it to a whole new level with his script, and the folks at Liquid Comic are now bringing it to life with their incredible artwork."

"Wes Craven is not only a great writer, producer and director, he is one of the most knowledgeable people I've had the honor to work with," Niles said. "I not only had fun working on Coming of Rage, I also learned a great deal."

Details on Craven's story have not yet been released. Liquid plans to launch the project as a five-issue comic-book series and subsequent collected graphic novel, starting early next year. In addition to print, Liquid will launch a number of digital initiatives across a variety of platforms.

Producer Arnold Rifkin of Cheyenne Enterprises and Liquid Comics Co-Founder & CEO, Sharad Devarajan are working with Craven on developing a feature film adaptation of the graphic novel.

"Wes Craven and Steve Niles are masters of the horror genre. The opportunity to bring them together for Wes's first graphic novel project is my fanboy dream come true," Devarajan said. "Each of them alone has terrified audiences for decades, so we can only imagine what horrors await as they finally team-up on Coming of Rage."

* According to Deadline, Christopher Eccleston will play Malekith The Accursed in Thor: The Dark World.

The Thor sequel, directed by Alan Taylor, is slated for a Nov. 8, 2013 release.

* Image Comics has announced a November release for Star Bright and the Looking Glass, Jonathan Luna's first solo creator-owned work after wrapping up The Sword with brother Joshua Luna.

"After the conclusion of The Sword, I took a two-year sabbatical, but I was always creating," Luna said. "I played with photography and film, and I learned how to paint with oil, acrylic, and watercolor. I finally decided I wanted to do a fairy-tale picture book."

Here's how Image describes the 72-page hardcover:

"Star Bright and the Looking Glass tells the story of a wild young woman who discovers her own beauty when she finds a mirror in her forest home. The awakening of Star Bright's consciousness of her own loveliness also opens her heart to vanity. But when a wicked sorceress steals Star Bright's beauty Star Bright will learn from her woodland animal friends what the true virtues in life are."

"Everything I'm doing with Star Bright and the Looking Glass is so different from what I'm used to. It's my first time writing alone, and prose for that matter," Luna said. "I can't really pinpoint what led me to do a fairy-tale picture book. There's definitely been a certain kind of imagery in my head that I've been dying to put on paper. I've been into pop surrealism for many years, so I wanted to incorporate that kind of art into my new work. I wanted it to be ethereal and a little dark."

* BOOM! Studios has announced a second printing for Adventure Time: Marceline and the Scream Queens #1. The publisher did not reveal the issue's initial print run.
