NEW YORK COMIC CON: DARK HORSE COMICS NEWS ROUNDUP

Dark Horse Comics made five game-related announcements at New York Comic-Con on Saturday morning.

Following is a roundup:

* Dark Horse has set a May 22 release date for Mass Effect Library Edition.

This collection includes all four Mass Effect series -- Redemption, Evolution, Invasion, and Homeworlds -- as well as the short stories from MySpace Dark Horse Presents, USAToday.com, and the Dark Horse digital store, all annotated by the artists and writers who worked on them. There will also be an extensive sketchbook of never-before-seen art.

* Dark Horse is set to publish a Mass Effect digital comic centered on the first hanar Spectre, Blasto, in conjunction with the inaugural N7 Day on Nov. 7.

Blasto: Eternity is Forever is written by lead game writer Mac Walters with art by Omar Francia.

* The video game The Last of Us, comes to print with a comic series and an art book from Dark Horse and Naughty Dog.

The Last of Us: American Dreams will be a four-issue series next spring by The Last of Us lead writer Neil Druckmann, with Faith Erin Hicks as co-writer and artist.

Here's how the series is described:

"Ellie, the heroine of The Last of Us, has grown up in a postpandemic world, shuttled between military orphanages in one of the last remaining quarantine zones and resigned to the fact that when she's old enough, she'll be channeled into the army or left to fend for herself -- until she meets an older girl determined to find a third way out. American Dreams explores Ellie's backstory and her first steps on the road that led her to her companion Joel."

* The Art of The Last of Us, a deluxe hardcover exploring the characters, the infected humans, and the intricately realized world of the game, will launch in conjunction with the release of the game.

* The third installment of the Dragon Age series, Dragon Age: Until We Sleep, will be in stores on March 27.

David Gaider -- the lead writer of the Dragon Age games -- takes three of the games' popular characters on a quest into the realm of nightmares, demons, and magic.

Scripts art by Alexander Freed, with art by Chad Hardin.

* Dragon Age: The World of Thedas Volume 1 will be in stores on April 13.

The book will feature hundreds of pieces of lush art from the creators of the games.
