COMICS CONTINUUM: NEWS IN BRIEF

* Marvel Comics has released a teaser image for Uncanny X-Men #1, with the tagline, "One of these X-Men is a traitor."

The issue, by Brian Michael Bendis and Chris Bacahlo, will be in stores on Feb. 13.

* Hermes Press has announced it will be publishing Rob M. Worley's Scratch9 and will feature the property in its Free Comic Book Day title.

"Scratch9 is a fantastic feature and is clearly in the tradition of the great cartoons and strips created by Hanna Barbera," said Hermes publisher Daniel Herman. "As Scratch9 has been on hiatus, I thought we'd reacquaint fans with Scratch and rev up interest in the series by offering a recap of issue #1 for Free Comic Book Day."

Following the FCBD edition comes the new Scratch9: Nine Tails series which teams Worley with nine different creators to tell solo adventures. Creators include Shane Houghton, Chris Houghton, Armand Villavert, Jr. and Shannon Eric Denton.

* Dark Horse Comics has announced that Hunter Quaid -- by Donny Cates, Eliot Rahal and Melissa Curtin -- will be featured in May's Dark Horse Presents #24.

Here's how Dark Horse sets up the story:

"Hunter Quaid is a drunken, misanthropic, time-traveling detective from the forties, but that's not all! As we follow Hunter on his journeys, we find that not all is as it seems, and sharp-eyed readers will find hidden clues to the book's needlessly elaborate, totally awesome secret!"

* According to Radical Studios, Paramount Pictures has set an August 8, 2014 release date for Hercules, based on its graphic novel. The movie will star Dwayne Johnson and will be directed by Brett Ratner.

* Syfy has canceled Alphas after two seasons.
