BRIEFLY

MILANO'S HACKTIVIST: Archaia Entertainment has announced Hacktivist, an original graphic novel from actress Alyssa Milano that explores the world of hacking and global activism.

Hacktivist will debut digitally this fall, followed by the hardcover print release next summer. The creative team includes writers Jackson Lanzing and Collin Kelly, artist Marcus To, colorist Ian Herring and Deron Bennett.

Here's how the book is described:

"Inspired by current events from around the world and Milano's own philanthropic endeavors, Hacktivist is a fast-paced cyber-thriller about friendship and freedom in a time of war. The story follows Ed Hiccox and Nate Graft, the young founders of the world's most innovative social media company who moonlight secretly as one of the most notorious black-hat hacker teams on the planet. When the U.S. government discovers their operation, they must face the real world beyond the code and choose between loyalty and what they believe to be is right."

"I'm very involved with in global activism and philanthropy. I like the idea of everyday people doing good," explained Milano. "My inspiration for Hacktivist is actually Jack Dorsey, the creator of Twitter and Square. I picture him leaving the office at night and going home, where he locks himself in his room and starts hacking to change the world."

A Hacktivist Ashcan comic, limited to 500 copies and containing exclusive preview content, original concept art, and an interview with Milano, will be distributed for free at the Archaia booth at Comics-Con International.

POLAR FARE: Dark Horse Comics has announced a Dec. 11 release for Polar: Came from the Cold, a print hardcover collection of the webcomic by Victor Santos, available for the first time with dialogue.

Here's how the story is described:

"Ripped out of retirement by an assassination attempt, the world's most deadly spy -- the former agent known as Black Kaiser -- is a wanted man that's wanted . . . dead! On a collision course with his former employer, the Damocles Agency, Black Kaiser goes head to head with a stab-happy, psychotic torture expert and a seductive but deadly redhead. His mission only ends if he dies or kills everyone out to get him, and he's not in the habit of dying."

COOPER AT DYNAMITE: Rocker Alice Cooper will star in a comic book from Dynamite Entertainment, the publisher has announced.

"Artistically, for me there is hardly a better medium," Cooper said. "There is so much you can do in the form of a comic that we'd never been able to do on stage. It's just a different way of storytelling, and it really has almost limitless possibilities. We're looking forward to stretching the existing boundaries of the comic medium again. We have new stories to tell, but we'll do it with the same theatrical, sinister sensibility that comes with the name Alice Cooper."

VERY BRIEFLY:Dynamite Entertainment will be publishing a comic book based on Fox's Bob's Burgers animated series.
