SUPERIOR SPIDER-MAN: "DARKEST HOURS"

Marvel Comics has announced "Darkest Hours," a four-issue arc in Superior Spider-Man featuring Venom. The story -- written by Dan Slott, with art by Humberto Ramos -- begins in November in Superior Spider-Man #22.

"Be warned -- we have some nasty stuff planned," Slott said. "Venom always brings out Spider-Man's dark side, and we're taking that 10 steps further in this latest arc."

Here's how the story is described:

"Nobody had pushed Peter Parker harder than Venom -- will Otto Octavius face the same brink? As the symbiote's tentacles wrap around Otto's new life, everything he's worked, sacrificed, and even killed for face their greatest jeopardy yet. One of the biggest books of Marvel NOW! is about to get even crazier in year two as The Superior Spider-Man's journey takes a new dark twist."

"There is no better brawl to get the blood pumping like a showdown between Spider-Man and Venom," said Marvel Senior Editor Steve Wacker. "Now that Otto's in the driver's, we can see these two clash with a viciousness we've never seen before. Believe me when I say we've been saving up for this one!"

WOLVERINE: ORIGIN II

Marvel Comics has announced a November launch of Wolverine: Origin II, by writer Kieron Gillen and artist Adam Kubert.

Here's how the book is described:

"A few years after the events of Origin finds James Howlett running with the wolves...until something unexpected brings him back into the world of men! Follow the first 'X-Man' as he finds his way back to civilization and falls afoul of someone Sinister, who's just discovering mutantkind and the horrors he can visit on them.

"Plus, discover the secret behind James' greatest enemy! At some point, the mutant who will become The Wolverine must choose: is he man or is he beast?"

"When we last saw Logan at the end of Origin, he was broken -- barely straddling the line between man and animal," Gillen. "But how did he transform himself from a wild recluse and into the groomed warrior he is today? That was always been a transformation I've wanted to explore."

ARROW GUEST-STARS: The CW has announced two guest-stars for the second season of Arrow.

Michael Jai White plays Ben Turner, a claw-wielding assassin better known as Bronze Tiger. On Arrow, he'll form an alliance with China White (played by Kelly Hu). Kevin Alejandro plays Sebastian Blood, inspired by Teen Titans nemesis Brother Blood.
