BRIEFLY

SUPER WRITERS: DC Comics has announced a pair of new writers for its Superman family titles in December.

Beginning with #26, Superigrl will kick off a new arc from writer Tony Bedard and artists Yildiray Cinar and Ray McCarthy. Following the stunning conclusion of "Krypton Returns," this first issue centers around Supergirl arriving back on Earth with a new mission and a clearer understanding of her place in the universe. But a striking new foe prepares to welcome Supergirl home -- Lobo.

Superboy #26 marks the first issue from the new creative team of writer Marv Wolfman and artist Andres Guinaldo. The issue, which will be co-written by Frank Hannah, finds Superboy lost in time with the Teen Titans as he comes to some startling revelations about both his origins and his future. He and the team try to rescue Kid Flash and find the way back to their own era.

PAGE TO SERVE?: Ellen Page, who returns as Kitty Pryde in next summer's X-Men: Days of Future Psst, is in negotiations to star in 20th Century Fox's Queen and Country, based on the Oni Press comic book created by Greg Rucka. Page would play the lead character, Tara Chace, a British Intelligence agent whose identity is compromised.

SUPER NIGHT: PBS has announced that Superheroes: A Never-Ending Battle will now air as a three-hour block on Tuesday, Oct. 15. The film from Emmy Award-winning producer/director Michael Kantor will premiere at 8 p.m. (ET) and include interviews from Stan Lee, Adam West, Lynda Carter, Jeph Loeb, Geoff Johns, Michael Chabon and Jules Feiffer.

Here's how the movie is described:

"Narrated and hosted by Liev Schreiber, Superheroes: A Never-Ending Battle is the first documentary to examine the dawn of the comic book genre and its powerful legacy, as well as the evolution of the characters who leapt from the pages over the last 75 years and their ongoing worldwide cultural impact. It chronicles how these 'disposable diversions' were subject to intense government scrutiny for their influence on American children and how they were created, in large part, by the children of immigrants whose fierce loyalty to a new homeland laid the foundation for a multi-billion-dollar industry that is now an influential part of our national identity."
