IDW Publishing has announced "The Q Gambit," a six-part story beginning in July's Star Trek #35 and featuring the omnipotent Q,

"Part of the fun of the new Star Trek movie franchise is seeing how beloved characters are different in the new timeline," said writer Mike Johnson, "But one iconic adversary remains unchanged: Q. His fascination with humanity and his penchant for mischief remain the same across the multiverse, and now he's come to take the Enterprise crew on an adventure that will bring new meaning to the phrase 'no-win scenario!'"

Joining Johnson on this adventure is first-time IDW Star Trek artist, Tony Shasteen.

"Like so many fans, Q captured my attention as soon as he appeared on the deck of the Enterprise," said Star Trek editor Sarah Gaydos. "We're excited to explore just how Q will react to our Captain Kirk...and how Kirk will handle one of the most powerful, witty characters ever to appear in the Star Trek universe. We're also very eager for everyone to see the stellar work Tony Shasteen is doing!"

Here's how the story is described:

"The Q Gambit begins when the mischievous Q sends James T. Kirk on a quest that will see the Enterprise joining forces with familiar faces from Star Trek lore, beginning with the crew of a certain space station..."

Dynamite Entertainment has announced a July 16 launch for The Devilers, the first book in "a series of creator-driven comics."

The Devilers is written by Joshua Hale Fialkov, with art by Matt Triano. The Devilers #1 will feature covers by Jock and Marc Silvestri.

Other titles will include Terminal Hero from Peter Milligan; Ex-Con from Duane Swierczynski; Control from Andy Diggle, Angela Cruickshank and Ben Oliver; and Grand Passion from James Robinson. More creators and titles will be announced.

Single issues in the line will be priced at $2.99.

Here's how The Devilers is described:

"When the world is under siege from the pits of hell, it's up to The Devilers to set things right. The world's greatest exorcists pit themselves against Satan's army, while all of creation hangs in the balance."

"Fans of the work I did on I, Vampire will find a continuation of a lot of the themes and ideas I started over there, but in a completely new package," Fialkov said. "It's been a blast to tell a big ol' supernatural horror adventure story again."
