BRIEFLYPHANTOM COMICS: Hermes Press has announced that it will publish The Phantom comics beginning in September with a six-issue mini-series by writer Peter David and artist Sal Velluto.
"I've been a huge Phantom fan for years, and even had the chance to work on him for DC many years ago," David said. "I'm thrilled that Daniel (Herman, Hermes publisher) approached me about this series and I'm taking the opportunity to produce a story I've literally been thinking about for a couple of decades. I'm very much looking forward to seeing Sal's pencils and putting the book out there for the fans."
The first issue will feature two covers by Velluto and variants by Alex Saviuk and Graham Nolan.
WEEKEND BOX OFFICE: X-Men: Days of Future Past topped the domestic box office for the four-day of the holiday weekend with with an estimated $111.0 million in its opening weekend. The movie also brought in $191 internationally for $302 million total, the best worldwide opening in the X-Men franchise.
Godzilla was second with $39.4 million, pushing its total to $156.7 million. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 was fifth with $10 million, pushing its total to $187.1 million.
