OUTCAST PILOT FOR CINEMAXThe pilot of the television adaptation of Outcast -- the Image Comics series created by Robert Kirkman -- is going into pre-production for Cinemax, Kirkman announced Friday.
Kirkman developed Outcast with FOX International Channels (FIC) at the same time he was developing the comic book series of the same name for his Skybound imprint at Image Comics. The second issue will debut at Comic-Con International in San Diego on Saturday.
Kirkman wrote the pilot.
Here's how the show is described:
"Outcast follows Kyle Barnes, a young man who has been plagued by possession since he was a child. Now an adult, he embarks on a journey to find answers but what he uncovers could mean the end of life on Earth as we know it."
Kirkman will serve as executive producer with David Alpert of Circle of Confusion, Sue Naegle, Chris Black and Sharon Tal Yguado of FIC.
AVENGERS: RAGE OF ULTRONMarvel Comics has announced an April release for Avengers: Rage of Ultron, an original graphic novel by writer Rick Remender and artists Jerome Opena and Dean Whit.
Here's how the book is described:
"Time and time again, Ultron has reformed himself, each time more powerful than the last. Now, with complete control over the central computer core of Saturn's moon Titan, only the Avengers stand in the way of total annihilation at the hands of Planet Ultron!
"Home of the Eternals and birthplace of Thanos the Mad, Saturn's moon Titan now bends to the will of the maniacal and deadly Ultron. With an entire planet under his control, Earth's obliteration is now within his reach. Only Ultron's inventor Hank Pym holds the key to defeating his own creation. And it will come with a frightening cost!"
"When you release a cutting-edge graphic novel featuring some of the greatest pop-culture icons in the world just in time for their next summer blockbuster, you go big," said editor Tom Brevoort. "That's why we brought out some of the industry's top flight talent -- Rick Remender, Jerome Opena and Dean White -- for an unforgettable adventure that will redefine Ultron, one of the Avengers' baddest villains, for both new and longtime fans."
"Coming out of Avengers: Rage of Ultron, there will be long-lasting ramifications," Remender said. "It was very important that [this book] be a great self-contained story, but the consequences of it have long reaching effects for not only Ultron, but Titan and Thanos and all the other wonderful pieces that are involved."
The original graphic novel will also include a code for a bonus digital edition of Avengers: Rage of Ultron at no extra charge.
ALL-NEW CAPTAIN AMERICA: FEAR HIMMarvel Comics has announced an October release for All-New Captain America: Fear Him, a six-issue Infinite Comic mobile device series that leads into the All-New Captain America print series featuring Sam Wilson.
Here's how Marvel describes the series:
"Bridging the gap between Sam taking up the shield in Captain America #25 to the debut of his new series in November, this genre-defining Infinite Comic chronicles Sam Wilson's first high-flying adventure as Captain America! Fan-favorite scribe Dennis Hopeless and rising star artist Szymon Kudranski craft an all-new adventure that will define Sam Wilson's new patriotic role and the man he will become!"
"We'll mostly be dealing with the psychological implications of picking up the shield," Hopeless said. "Sam has to figure out what kind of Captain America he wants to be and what parts of his own personality he can bring to the role."
