MARVEL TO PUBLISH WILL.I.AM GRAPHIC NOVEL

Marvel Comics has announced a July release for Masters of the Sun - The Zombie Chronicles, an original graphic novel from will.i.am from from the Black Eyed Peas and artist Damion Scott.

"Few artists have done more to embed Hip-Hop in popular culture than will.i.am and the Black Eyed Peas," said Axel Alonso, Marvel's editor in chief. "So we are thrilled to present this deeply personal story that speaks directly to Hip-Hop aficionados, comic book fans and the intersection of those communities."

Here's how the book is described:

"Los Angeles is under attack from an ancient alien God sent to earth to turn its inhabitants into zombies. With a deep love of the Hip-Hop culture, Zulu-X and his crew go head-to-head with a nefarious ancient order to settle a score thousands of years old. What happens next can only be described as the perfect blend of ancient wisdom and street-smarts all rolled into one epic adventure."

"The Black Eyed Peas and I have begun a new journey," said will.i.am. "We've been working on this original story for years and partnering with Marvel to bring this book to life is more than a dream come true."

MARVEL COMICS' SECRET EMPIRE: BRAVE NEW WORLD

Marvel Comics has announced a new Secret Empire series in July, Secret Empire: Brave New World, written by Paul Allor and Brian Level with an army of Marvel's top creators detailing how every corner of the Marvel Universe lives in a world overrun by the hordes of Hydra.

Here's how the book is described:

"Due to the manipulations of the Red Skull, Captain America now leads the Hydra charge against the entire Marvel Universe and under this new regime, Earth's protectors are forced to come to grips with the revelation that one of their very own is now their greatest enemy. An essential companion series, Secret Empire: Brave New World expands on a world under the boot of Hydra and how Marvel heroes, from every corner of the globe, must band together against Captain America -- including his oldest allies, The Invaders!"

"Secret Empire: Brave New World is going to be a vital chapter during the events of Secret Empire," Allor said. "I am so excited to tell the story of how Cap's first allies: the Invaders -- the original Human Torch, Toro, and Namor -- are dealing with Steve epitomizing everything they always stood against and now how they need to defend the Kingdom of Atlantis from the tightening grip of Hydra."

Although hidden under the ocean, Atlantis remains one of the most powerful nations on Earth and will be a key battleground during the reign of Secret Empire.

"I'm particularly excited to focus on Namor's role as a monarch and leader of his people," Allor said. "For nearly seventy five years, Namor has been one of Marvel's most complex and enigmatic characters, and our story harkens back to the very beginning of the Marvel Universe offering revelations detrimental to the current day battle of the Marvel Universe united against Hydra."

Others featured will include Blade, Gwenpool and the all-new Patriot.

Creators for #1 include Allor, Jeremy Whitley and Nick Kocher, with art by Level, Diego Olortegui and Will Robson and a cover by Paulo Siqueira.

Creators for #2 include Allor, Fabian Nicieza and Rodney Barnes, with art by Level, Tana Ford and a cover by Siqueira.

BOOM! STUDIOS' CLUELESS

BOOM! Studios has announced an August release for a Clueless comic book that follows up the 1995 film inspired by Jane Austen's novel Emma and starring Alicia Silverstone, Stacey Dash, Paul Rudd and Brittany Murphy.

The book is written by Amber Benson and Sarah Kuhn, with art by Siobhan Keenan.

Here's how BOOM! describes Clueless:

"It's senior year at Bronson Alcott High School, and Cher, Dionne, and Tai find themselves in a bit of an existential crisis: Where are they meant to go, and what are they meant to DO after high school? Luckily they have all year -- and each other's help -- to figure it out!"

"I was 17 when I auditioned for Clueless and, sadly, didn't get a part," Benson said. "But I remember reading the script -- tentatively titled As If -- and thinking: If they do this right, they are going to kick some serious butt. So I wasn't shocked when Clueless turned out to be a pop-culture phenomenon. All these years later, I am tickled that I finally get to be a part of its continuing legacy, and that I get to collaborate with two people I respect greatly: my co-writer Sarah Kuhn and our editor Shannon Watters."

"Clueless is one of my favorite movies of all time -- I love [director] Amy Heckerling's whip-smart use of language, her clever take on Austen, and the strong bonds she created between vibrant, awesome female characters," Kuhn said. "And I love that Cher Horowitz is a heroine who takes on every obstacle she faces with a unique combination of ingenuity, positivity, and the ability to pull off yellow tartan like nobody else. Getting to write these characters is both a total dream come true and an incredible challenge and I hope we're doing Cher, Dionne, and Tai justice -- we’re certainly having a ton of fun."

Clueless features a cover by Natacha Bustos.
