MARVEL COMICS ADDRESSES WOLVERINE

Marvel Comics has announced that answers concerning Wolverine will begin to unravel in 2018, and fans will be able to catch glimpses of their favorite mutant in special after-credit scenes at the end of key Marvel titles. Appearing in select issues starting this January, some of Marvel's artists will tease the whereabouts of the adamantium-clawed mutant with tantalizing connected teaser panels.

"Fans have been speculating about Wolverine's whereabouts since he first reappeared in Marvel Legacy #1 -- and the Marvel Universe is left just as unaware," said editor Tom Brevoort. "So keep your eyes peeled as Canada's favorite citizen makes his presence felt in titles all across the Marvel line! It's all leading to something -- but what?"

"Mystery has always been part of Wolverine's DNA," said editor Mark Paniccia. "He's one of Marvel's most interesting and popular characters. Fans are going to have a helluva ride finding out where he's been and how he came back."

According to Marvel, readers can track Wolverine beginning with the following books: Captain America #697, on sale on Jan. 3; The Mighty Thor #703, on sale on Jan. 17; and Amazing Spider-Man #794, on sale on Jan. 24.

BRIEFLY

THE SPIDER KING: IDW Publishing has announced a February launch for The Spider King, four issues from writer Josh Vann and artist Simone D'Armini. The Spider King, introduces a vicious and violent world of survival to an extra-terrestrial threat unlike any mankind has faced before.

Originally self-published in 2016 and funded with Kickstarter, The Spider King will make its serialized debut. Variant cover artists will include Skottie Young, Afu Chan and Jakub Rebelka.

"More than just a clash of genres, the Spider King is a classic Viking saga about loyalty, family, honour, and revenge," said Vann. "At the root of this story is Hrolf, the reluctant king of the Laxdales, who is on a quest to avenge his father and kill his Uncle Aarek. But Hrolf's plans are complicated when Aarek is possessed by a bloodthirsty alien parasite, hell-bent on destruction."
