MARVEL'S INFINITY WARS: SLEEPWALKER

Marvel Comics has announced an Oct. 3 launch for Infinity Wars: Sleepwalker, a two-issue series written by Chris Sims and Chad Bowers, with art and covers by Todd Nauck.

Here's how Marvel describes the book:

"Deep in the mind of man, in the ephemeral realm of dreams, he dwells...the Sleepwalker! Lurking on the fringes of our unconsciousness, he protects the Mindscape from entities that threaten to tear our very minds apart...but when all of reality becomes warped by the unbridled power of the Infinity Stones, how will he continue to protect the world?

"An all-new spellbinding tale, as one of Marvel's most unique heroes returns -- to a Mindscape utterly transformed by the reality-warping madness of Infinity Wars!"

Infinity Wars: Sleepwalker #2 will also ship in October.

G. WILLOW WILSON TO WRITE WONDER WOMAN

G. Willow Wilson will be the next new writer of Wonder Woman, DC Comics publisher Dan DiDio announced. Wilson and artist Cary Nord kick off her run on the character with Wonder Woman #58, on sale Nov. 14.

"This is a big deal for us because we've seen all the wonderful work she did," DiDio said. "She was here with us several years back. She had her own series with Vertigo. She did a Vixen mini-series when I was executive editor of the line, it's gotta be 10-12 years ago. So it's great to have her back at DC.

"We feel she's going to bring a real strength of character again. She's going to be building on a lot of the ideas that Greg (Rucka) set up. We keep saying that that's the version, that's the interpretation of Wonder Woman for the DCU."

"I'm delighted to be writing such an iconic character as Wonder Woman and to be working with DC once again," Wilson said in a statement. "With more than 75 years of history, Wonder Woman has a wealth of backstory and drama to draw from, and I look forward to putting a spin on Diana and her supporting cast that's both new, yet familiar. It'll be a challenge to do her justice, but I like a challenge and can't wait to get started."

Wilson's first story arc for Wonder Woman will be titled "The Just War."

Here's how DC describes the arc:

When Steve Trevor's unit goes missing in an Eastern European country torn by revolution, Wonder Woman immediately flies across the globe to help him -- only to slam into the brick wall that is Ares, the God of War, whofs taken a strange interest in this conflict. But why is Ares acting so strange? Has he turned over a new leaf? Does Wonder Woman have a chance to redeem him? And just as important./.if Ares has returned to Earth, then what happened to the supposedly unbreachable prison built to contain him -- Wonder Woman's homeland, Themyscira?"

BRIEFLY

WIZARD BEACH: BOOM! Studios has announced a December launch for Wizard Beach, a five-issue series from writer Shaun Simon and artist Conor Nolan.

Here's how BOOM! describes the book:

"Wizards exist. As do witches and frost giants and an array of magical creatures. But they were hidden from view until a few found themselves weary of the ice-capped mountains and made their way to the beach. Now wizards are part of the norm, and all they want to do is relax. When Hexley Daggard Ragbottom, a young wizard, wants to put an end to the frost of his homeland, he seeks out his Uncle Salazar, the greatest wizard of all time. But Uncle 'Sally' has other plans. Namely napping."

"Wizard Beach is about leaving the cold, unrelenting, and dreary life in the mountains for a stress free and relaxing life on the beach. The book doesnft take itself too seriously, something our main character, Hexley Daggard Ragbottom does when he arrives at the beach," Simon said. "With hopes to learn scholarly magic from his uncle, Hex leaves his old life behind. But when the humorless and rigid boy finds his Uncle Salazar lounging on the beach, Hex will either learn to let go of his old ways and chill out or live a miserable, high-strung life. For me, like the premise of the book, Wizard Beach is me letting go of what I thought I should be writing and learning that's it's ok to write what I want -- to let my guard down and have fun and be funny along the way."

UMBRELLA RETURNS: Dark Horse Comics has announced an Oct. 3 launch for The Umbrella Academy: Hotel Oblivion, a seven-issue series from Gerard Way and Gabriel Ba.

Here's how Dark Horse describes the series:

Number Five is a hired gun, Kraken is stalking big game, Rumor is dealing with the wreckage of her marriage, a rotund Spaceboy runs around the streets of Tokyo, Vanya continues her physical therapy after being shot in the head -- and no one wants to even mention Seance until issue #2."

Dark Horse will debut two The Umbrella Academy convention exclusives at Comic-Con International in San Diego. The Umbrella Academy Hazel and Cha Cha Enamel Pin is a .125" enamel pin featuring the heads of Hazel and Cha Cha, the ultra-violent villains of The Umbrella Academy world. The Umbrella Academy Crest T-shirt will also be available at the convention.

STYLES PROFILE: BOOM! Studios has announced that October's WWE #21 follows the journey of AJ Styles in his quest to WWE, going behind the scenes of his biggest matches as he shows the WWE Universe why he is called "The Phenomenal One."
