CLARK GREGG TALKS AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D.

Clark Gregg, who plays Phil Coulson on Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., appeared on CBS' The Talk on Thursday, chatting briefly about the show.

As to the time-traveling elements of Season 7, Gregg said:

:The reason they go back in time to the 30s is because they are being chased by dangerous super robots from the future -- as they do. So we end going back in time to try and stop them from rewriting history, because you know that would not be good."

On Coulson coming back from the dead again:

:So he died in the Avengers, and then he came back for this show, And he died at the end of Season 5 and then he came back as an evil alter ego. That guy died about seven or eight times. But he seems very difficult to kill. I think by now, it's like 11 or 12.

At this point, Coulson, is, it's a thing in Marvel Universe, he's an LMD -- a life model decoy -- which means he's a synthetic robot. But, he's super, super-advanced technology, so he's kind of himself -- and trying to figure out how he feels being someone out of Blade Runner."

in related news, ABC has released a gallery of images from the upcoming season, which premieres on Wednesday, May 27 at 10 p.m. Click on the thumbnails for larger images.
