MARVEL COMICS' IRON MAN

Marvel Comics has announced a September relaunch for Iron Man, by writer Christopher Cantwell, artist CAFU and cover artist Alex Ross.

Here's how Marvel describes the book:

"Tony is putting away his high-tech toys and high-profile image so he can get his hands dirty again. But can he really lay that Stark-sized ego down? Life isn't always that simple, something that old friends and frustrating foes are quick to point out. If you strip a billionaire down to his bolts, does he run solid...or just overheat?"

"I'm over the moon about getting a shot at writing the Golden Avenger," Cantwell said. "Since Bob Layton's art in the 1980s captured my imagination as a kid, I've been fascinated by Iron Man, and in this new story run I'm aiming to explore the question: who should Iron Man be today? An angel? A god? Or just a humble man?

"Tony's going to try and strip the idea of Iron Man all the way down to its metal core, something that will constantly be at odds with his giant ego. We'll see if he can truly keep his arrogant self-image in check, even as others with god complexes set their sights on the entire universe."

BOOM! STUDIOS' AN UNKINDNESS OF RAVENS

BOOM! Studios has announced a September launch for a new five-issue original series, An Unkindness of Ravens, from writer Dan Panosian and artist Marianna Ignazzi, a supernatural mystery about a group of high schoolers steeped in witchcraft and the town they live in filled with long-hidden secrets and unchecked power.

Here's how BOOM! describes the mini-series:

"Not all the witches burned during the Salem Witch Trials -- and the ones that survived did so together, protecting the ancient secrets entrusted to them for generations. They call themselves the Ravens.

"Wilma is the new girl in school, and she plans to go completely unnoticed -- except that she bears an eerie resemblance to the Raven member Waverly, who just went missing. The truth behind Waverly's disappearance will put the entire coven in danger -- and Wilma will have to rely on power she never knew she had if she wants to save her new friends."

"Revenge is a dish best served monthly. Add some magic, murder and mystery -- and you're in for a treat," Panosian said. "An Unkindess of Ravens is the kindest gift you can give yourself this summer."

"I fell in love with the story right away and I was honored to be given the chance to illustrate it. This story is filled with magic and I couldn't help but be overwhelmed by its mysterious atmosphere," Ignazzi said. "I cannot wait to bring these fantastic characters to life."

The first issue features main cover art by Panosian and variant cover art by Qistina Khalidah.

BRIEFLY

NEW S.H.I.E.L.D.: ABC has released the following description for "Out of the Past," the Wednesday, June 17 episode of Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.:

"It was just another average morning on July 22, 1955, when Agent Phil Coulson realized the importance of that day in the S.H.I.E.L.D. history books. With a chip on his shoulder and a genre-bending glitch in his system, he'd set into motion a chain of events that would hopefully preserve the timeline as we know it and ensure those pesky chronicoms get the ending they deserve. What could go wrong?"

"Out of the Past" was written by Mark Leitner and directed by Garry A. Brown.

VALIANT FIRST LOOKS: For covers and five-page preview of Quantum & Woody #4, available on Wednesday, July 8 from Valiant Entertainment, CLICK HERE
