UMBRELLA ACADEMY: SEASON 2

Netflix has released imagery and details from Season 2 of Umbrella Academy, which will be available to stream on Friday, July 31.

Here's how the network sets up the season:

"Five warned his family (so, so many times) that using his powers to escape from Vanya's 2019 apocalypse was risky. Well, he was right -- the time jump scatters the siblings in time in and around Dallas, Texas. Over a three year period. Starting in 1960.

Some, having been stuck in the past for years, have built lives and moved on, certain they're the only ones who survived. Five is the last to land, smack dab in the middle of a nuclear doomsday, which -- spoiler alert! --turns out is a result of the group's disruption of the timeline (deja vu, anyone?).

Now the Umbrella Academy must find a way to reunite, figure out what caused doomsday, put a stop to it, and return to the present timeline to stop that other apocalypse. All while being hunted by a trio of ruthless Swedish assassins. But seriously, no pressure or anything."

NEW DUNEGONS & DRAGONS FROM IDW

IDW Publishing has announced a late summer launch for Dungeons & Dragons: At the Spine of the World, a four-issue series from writers AJ Mendez and Aimee Garcia and artist Martin Coccolo.

Here's how IDW describes the book:

"In At the Spine of the World, the never-ending winterfs night is slowly driving an isolated town in the depths of Icewind Dale to the brink of insanity. To save them all, a perilous journey awaits a band of adventurers as they battle a furious icy god and uncover the plot of an ancient primordial evil."

"The fantasy genre is a source of solace, love, and belonging for me, so entering the world of Dungeons & Dragons is exciting and squeal-inducing in a way that probably isnft professionally acceptable. But itfs too late now, IDW is stuck with me," Mendez said. "This is a prestigious and beloved title and we're proud to join the party."

"As a kid, I thought I could do magic. As an adult, I never stopped believing in magic. And, as an actor, I play make believe every day," said Garcia, who has been in Dexter and Lucifer. "Fantasy has always been a part of my life. So, I'm excited and honored to create fantastical stories of brave adventures, because in some way, if they can slay monsters and keep fighting when the odds are stacked against then, then we can keep fighting... no matter what odds are stacked against us."

The Dungeons & Dragons miniseries marks the second IDW collaboration between Mendez and Garcia, who previously worked on GLOW and GLOW vs. The Babyface.

The first issue will feature a cover by Coccolo, a roleplaying game-style Character Sheet design by Max Davenport and two retailer incentive editions by Catherine Nodet and Davenport.
