DOOM PATROL: SEASON 3

HBO Max has ordered Doom Patrol for a third season.

Doom Patrol executive producer Jeremy Carver said: "On behalf of the wonderful cast, writers and crew, we are thrilled and grateful for the opportunity to return to Doom Manor. And we are especially thankful for our partners at Berlanti Productions, Warner Bros. Television, DC Universe and, of course, HBO Max."

"Doom Patrol came to HBO Max with an already deep and passionate fan base and has risen to the top as one of the most watched Max Originals on the platform," said Sarah Aubrey, head of original content, HBO Max. "The series sits well in our portfolio and we are glad to greenlight a third season to continue this distinctive style of storytelling that resonates so well with critics and fans alike."

In season two of Doom Patrol, DC's strangest group of heroes -- including Cliff Steele aka Robotman (Brendan Fraser), Larry Trainor aka Negative Man (Matt Bomer), Jane aka Crazy Jane (Diane Guerrero), Rita Farr aka Elasti-Woman (April Bowlby), and Victor Stone aka Cyborg (Joivan Wade) -- attempted, once again, to save the world. Following the defeat of Mr. Nobody, the heroes found themselves mini-sized and stranded on Cliff's toy race car track. They began to deal with their feelings of betrayal by Niles Caulder aka The Chief (Timothy Dalton), while confronting their own personal baggage. As each member faced the challenge of growing beyond their own past traumatic experiences, they realized they must come together to embrace and protect the newest member of the family: Dorothy Spinner (Abigail Shapiro), Niles' daughter, whose powers remain a mysterious but real threat to bringing on the end of the world.

Doom Patrol is produced by Berlanti Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television, with Carver, Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, Chris Dingess and Geoff Johns serving as executive producers. The series is based on characters created for DC by Arnold Drake, Bob Haney and Bruno Premiani.

NEW LEGENDS OF TOMORROW CAST MEMBER

Lisseth Chavez has been cast in the role of Esperanza "Spooner" Cruz for Season 6 of DC's Legends of Tomorrow on The CW.

Previously known for her role as Officer Vanessa Rojas on the NBC drama Chicago, P.D., Chavez has recurred on many hit television shows including Murder in the First, The Fosters, and The OA.

Here's how the character is described:

"Tough and self-sufficient, Spooner Cruz lives off the grid, devising ingenious tech for the detection of -- and defense against -- space aliens. And while some might call her paranoid, she calls it being prepared. A survivor of a childhood alien encounter, Spooner now believes she has the ability to communicate telepathically with aliens -- making her the perfect recruit for Waverider captains Sara Lance, Ava Sharpe and the Legends who, in season six, will be hunting down extraterrestrials who have been displaced throughout history.

"Having spent last season tracking down the Loom of Fate in order to bring back their slain comrades, the Legends must now save history from a foe like none they have ever encountered in the past or future...space aliens! After Sara is abducted by a ruthless alien, this new mission becomes personal. It will take more than the combined powers of the Legends to save the world for a sixth time. They must recruit a new Legend: Spooner Cruz, a woman uniquely qualified to help the team defeat their intergalactic foes. Either that or she's just crazy..."

Produced by Berlanti Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television, DC's Legends of Tomorrow returns for its sixth season in 2021.

BRIEFLY

PENNYWORTH PREGNANCY: In the upcoming second season of Epix's Pennyworth, the DC drama series that follows Alfred Pennyworth (Jack Bannon) in 1960s London, where he works with young billionaire Thomas Wayne (Ben Aldridge), it will be discovered that Martha Kane (Emma Paetz) is pregnant.

During the Pennyworth panel at DC FanDome, producer Bruno Heller shared the unexpected news with the parents-to-be-by-acting-proxy Emma Paetz and Ben Aldridge.

It was previously revealed during the DC FanDome: Hall of Heroes event on August 22 that DC character Lucius Fox would be joining the series in season two.

Pennyworth Season 2 also features the return of Hainsley Lloyd Bennett, Ryan Fletcher, Dorothy Atkinson and Polly Walker, with multi-award-winning recording artist Paloma Faith and Jason Flemyng.

Earlier this year, it was announced that James Purefoy, Edward Hogg, Jessye Romeo, Ramon Tikaram and Harriet Slater would be joining the cast as series regulars.

YOUNG JUSTICE: During the Young Justice panel at DC Fandome, executive producers Greg Weisman and Brandon Vietti exclusively confirmed the official title for the fourth season as Young Justice: Phantoms.

Prior to the announcement, select members of the voice cast -- including Jason Spisak, Khary Payton, Stephanie Lemelin, Nolan North, Denise Boutte, Danica McKellar and Crispin Freeman -- performed an original radio play titled Young Justice: FanDome. Season 3.9. Episode 1 - "The Prize."

Written by Weisman, the script provided an early glimpse into the new season by setting up events that eventually play out further in Young Justice: Phantoms.

WONDER VARIANTS: To coincide with the new Dec. 25 release date of Warner Bros.' Wonder Woman 1984 film, DC's Wonder Woman 1984 variant covers will be resolicited for December on sale. Orders for the nine previously solicited variants have been cancelled.
