MARVEL COMICS' KING IN BLACK: GWENOM VS. CARNAGE

Marvel Comics has released imagery and details from King in Black: Gwenom vs. Carnage, due in January from writer Seanan McGuire and artist Flaviano.

Here's how the book is described:

"Equipped with a symbiotic suit of her own, the god of symbiote’s descent on the Marvel Universe in King in Black will throw Gwenom’s world into chaos. As Knull unleashes his dark influence throughout the globe, Gwen will have to defend her new home universe against one of the most dangerous symbiotes of all time -- Carnage!"

"I could not be feeling better or more excited right now. You can expect a lot of swinging -- and kicking -- high, yelling loud, and general chaos," McGuire said. "I've missed Gwen so much, this is really a gift."

BOOM! STUDIOS' ABBOTT 1973

BOOM! Studios has announced a January launch for Abbott: 1973, a new series from writer Saladin Ahmed, artist Sami Kivela, colorist Mattia Iacono and letterer Jim Campbell.

The five-issue series returns to the world of Abbott, as the eponymous unstoppable reporter tackles a new corruption taking over Detroit in 1973 and the supernatural threat behind it.

Here's how BOOM! describes the book:

"Elena Abbott is one of Detroit's toughest reporters -- and after defeating the dark forces that murdered her husband, she's focused on the most important election in the city's history. But when someone uses dark magic to sabotage the campaign of the prospective first Black mayor of Detroit, it becomes clear to Abbott that the supernatural conspiracy in her city is even greater than she ever imagined. Now Abbott must exhaust all her abilities as a reporter and a supernatural savior to rescue Detroit -- but at what cost to her own life?"

"I'm ridiculously thrilled to bring readers a new chapter in Elena Abbott's life," Ahmed said. "The first series generated incredible excitement and energy, and we've fed off of that to bring you an even bigger story.

"It's 1973, Elena is living her best life with Amelia, and Detroit is preparing to elect its first black mayor. But while Elena's powers have grown, they may not be enough to stop the shadows that have seized those closest to her -- shadows that threaten to engulf the whole city."

"It's been fun to dive back into the world of Abbott," Kivela said. "I'm eager to show you all what's going on in Detroit in 1973. If you thought that the city had calmed down, you couldn't be more mistaken."

Covers for the first issue are by Taj Tenfold, Raul Allen and Jenny Frison.
