Here's how the show is described:

"Based on the Dark Horse comic, Syfy's Resident Alien follows Harry, an alien played by Alan Tudyk that crash lands on Earth and passes himself off as a small-town human doctor. Arriving with a secret mission to kill all humans, Harry starts off living a simple life... but things get a bit rocky when he's roped into solving a local murder and realizes he needs to assimilate into his new world. As he does so, he begins to wrestle with the moral dilemma of his mission and asking the big life questions like: 'Are human beings worth saving?' and 'Why do they fold their pizza before eating it?'"

From UCP, in association with Amblin TV and Dark Horse Entertainment, Resident Alien was adapted to television by executive producer Chris Sheridan. Mike Richardson and Keith Goldberg of Dark Horse Entertainment, and Justin Falvey and Darryl Frank of Amblin TV also executive produce. David Dobkin executive produced and directed the pilot.

Resident Alien also stars Sara Tomko, Corey Reynolds, Alice Wetterlund and Levi Fiehler.

BRIEFLY

SWAMP THING EPISODE: The CW has released images and details from "Darkness on the Edge of Town," the episode of Swamp Thing debuting on the network on Tuesday.

Here's how the network describes the episode:

"While Swamp Thing (Derek Mears) senses a growing darkness within the swamp, Abby’s (Crystal Reed) return dredges up her dark history with Avery (Will Paton) and Maria (Virginia Madsen), We learn more about the mysterious Dan Cassidy (Ian Ziering)."

The episode was directed by Carol Banker and written by Erin Maher and Kay Reindl.

BOOM!'S GIRLSPLAINING: BOOM! Studios has announced a March release for Girlsplaining: A (Sorta) Memoir, an original graphic novel by Katja Klengel. The book tackles subjects that have shaped Klengel's life: from body shaming to the exploration of her sexuality, and from the representation of women in the media to the social pressure on women who don’t have children.

"When I was a teenager I couldn't imagine that there were other girls and women who had the same problems and experienced the same things I did," Klengel said. "So, for me, Girlsplaining is the book I would have liked to have when I was younger to help me realize I'm not alone in this.

"I'm happy and excited that I can reach out to many more teenagers and grown-ups in the U.S. and elsewhere, and maybe it's a bit comforting to them."

SIGMA'S CALICO: Sigma Comics, a comic book publisher dedicated to fighting animal abuse, has announced a December premiere for Calico Volume 1: Pin-Up Gallery.

Here's how the book is described:

"Set in the rough outer boroughs of New York City, Calico Volume 1: Pin-Up Gallery follows Hector Gil, a former boxer from The Bronx with a huge chip on his shoulder, created by life regrets. He decides to enter a prestigious boxing tournament, and as he trains, his new Brooklyn neighbors are unaware of the double-life he leads. On choice evenings, Hector Gil becomes the Calico, to pay unfriendly visits to people who abuse and kill animals. He is supported by a varied network of technically savvy and resourceful data professionals, all bent on making sure Calico completes his missions without a hitch."

"What's funny is, on the surface, it might seem like a gimmick, yet there's no reference to Veganism anywhere in the series," said Calico creator H.H. German, and founder of Sigma Comics. "This is just one rough hombre who doesn't eat meat, and really, really hates bullies."

Calico Volume 1: Pin-Up Gallery will be an 8-book series, with each issue featuring 22 pages of story by German and art by Javier Orabich, with cover art by Garnabiel.
