LAUREN COHAN TALKS THE WALKING DEAD

Lauren Cohan, who plays Maggie on The Walking Dead, appeared on Live with Kelly and Ryan on Wednesday morning and talked about her character.

"it's great. We have these six episodes at the end of our last season," Cohan said. "Maggie's back and she's out for blood with Negan, pretty much. Trying not to be, but it's sort of inevitable."

Cohan said the animosity is a far cry from her real relationship with Negan actor Jeffrey Dean Morgan.

"He's the hardest person to be mad at," she said. "It's so funny, too, because during some of those episodes, we were all living near each other when we came back to Georgia for that time, and it was like just hanging out with him and Hilarie and the kids and playing sidewalk chalk and then I'm like, 'I have to hate this guy. What the heck?'

"He's your buddy. It's great fun for us to have this storyline."

New episodes of The Walking Dead return on Sunday, Feb. 28 on AMC, with them also airing the Thursday before on AMC+.

MARVEL COMICS' REPTIL

Marvel Comics has announced a May 26 launch for Reptil, from writer Terry Blas, artist Enid Balam and cover artist Paco Medina.

Here's how Marvel describes the book:

"In the wake of Kamala's Law and his Grandfather's worsening health, Humberto Lopez, A.K.A. Reptil, has taken a step back from crime-fighting to refocus on his family. Perhaps it's a sign that he should give up on becoming a hero and finally come to terms with his parents¡¯ mysterious disappearance...or perhaps not! When a mysterious figure ambushes Humberto, what unravels will shake the core of everything Humberto thought he knew about his past and will either change the course of his future -- or end it forever."

"I'm so excited to be making my Marvel debut with such a fun and complex young character," Blas said. "He's Mexican-American, like me, and I'm delighted to bring a story with more of that representation to Marvel. Also, he can turn into dinosaurs and isn't that every kid's dream?"

"This comic-book series presents us with a great adventure that I know will personally resonate amongst the Latin American community," Balam said. "Yes, heroes are born from all over the world and Marvel's teams are doing their part to celebrate their amazing stories."

MARVEL TEAMS WITH DEF JAM RECORDINGS

Def Jam Recordings and Marvel Comics have announced a collaboration designed to integrate the voices of young black creatives with the Black Panther.

Three of Def Jam's rising stars -- Saint Bodhi, Bobby Sessions and Kaash Paige -- will each contribute short stories in Black Panther #23-25, the last three issues of the "Intergalactic Empire" saga from the creative team of writer Ta-Nehisi Coates and artist Daniel Acuna.

In celebration of Black History Month, Black Panther #23 on Feb. 24 will see South-Central-LA singer/songwriter Saint Bodhi share her take on Storm for a story grounded in tragedy and acceptance. One month later in issue #24, Dallas-native and rapper Bobby Sessions will tell a story about the King of Wakanda Black Panther himself. And in the series finale issue #25 in April, Toxic R&B breakout star Kaash Paige will forge a tale about Wakandan Princess Shuri and the power of knowledge.

Aligned with the Def Jam Forward initiative to promote social, economic, and educational equality, each three-page story will also feature an exclusive one-page Def Jam artist profile.

"Bringing these two logos together was a dream," said Def Jam partnerships consultant Jonathan Rheingold. "There was a mutual desire to unite these two great brands for a mission and a cause -- leveraging Def Jam's rising stars and the legendary Marvel characters to tell powerful stories that would make an emotional connection with fans of both cultures."

Bodhi, Sessions and Paige are stepping into comics for the first time, but each of the Def Jam artists have a long-standing passion for Marvel and the world of comics and graphic arts in general. And like the inspirations behind their latest albums, the challenges faced by Marvel's heroes are not so far removed from their own. Bodhi, Sessions, and Paige will bring their short stories to life alongside Marvel's comic book writers and artists. Kicking off with her Storm story in Black Panther #23, Bodhi will be joined by co-writer Danny Lore, artist Alitha Martinez and colorist Rachelle Rosenberg. As a bonus, Bodhi's debut story will also be included in Marvel's Voices: Legacy #1, a celebration of Black voices and artists, on sale the same day.
