NETFLIX'S LOCKE & KEY: SEASON 2

The season will be available starting Friday, Oct. 22.

BEN REILLY: SPIDER-MAN

J.M. DeMatteis, writer of influential Spider-Man stories such as Kraven's Last Hunt and Spider-Man: The Lost Years, will make his return to Marvel Comics this January with Ben Reilly: Spider-Man.

The series will reveal new stories in the life of Peter Parker's clone, Ben Reilly, during his time as Spider-Man, in the same vein as Symbiote Spider-Man.

Here's how Marvel describe the series, which features art by David Baldeon.

"Darkness looms over New York City as murders begin to pile up...but how are they all connected? Meanwhile, a mysterious figure from Ben's past has crawled his way back into Ben's life -- does the Ravencroft Institute for the Criminally Insane hold the key to their identity?"

"What I've always found fascinating about Ben Reilly is that he's Peter Parker -- and yet he's not," DeMatteis said. "Life has taken Ben on a strange, twisted path and altered him, sometimes for the better, sometimes for the worse; but, like Peter, he's a man who's constantly striving to do the right thing, even if he doesn't always succeed. Ben is wonderfully, painfully human, immensely relatable...and our new Ben Reilly: Spider-Man series allows me to dive even deeper into Ben's psyche, to explore him in new and, I hope, interesting ways.

"Having David Baldeon bringing this story to visual life has been the icing on the cake. David's work is incredibly dynamic. Fluid and powerful. He nails the big moments -- we've got some major antagonists going up against Ben, but he always holds tight to the characters' humanity, so that even the smallest, quietest moments shine and have resonance.

"It's been a true joy returning the Spiderverse and reuniting with my old friend, Ben."

BRIEFLY

HELLIONS FINALE: Marvel Comics has released details about Hellions #18, the final issue of the series shipping in December.

Here's how Marvel describes the issue, by writer Zeb Wells and artists Ze Carlos and Stephen Segovia.

"Orphan-Maker has committed a horrible crime. As he faces the ultimate penalty, the cracks in the team are on full display. Secrets, betrayals, alliances and loss all come to the surface as the fallout of Orphan-Maker's actions threatens to end all the Hellions have worked toward!

"Plus, a final decision is made regarding one of the most troublesome figures in mutant history: Madelyne Pryor, aka The Goblin Queen. Fierce X-Men ally turned vengeful X-Men villain, the controversial clone of Jean Grey and ex-wife to Cyclops has served many roles over the years. Will Maddie return as a friend or foe?

"Hellions may be coming to an end, but our team of outcasts are gonna leave their mark on the way out the door," Wells said. "This includes bringing back one of my favorite characters, Madelyne Pryor! And take it from me, this is only the beginning for our Queen..."

Covers are by Segovia, Peach Momoko and Philip Tan.

BASSETT TALKS PANTHER: Angela Bassett appeared on CBS' The Talk on Wednesday, promoting 911. But she also spoke briefly about the Black Panther sequel, Wakanda Forever, shooting now after the death of star Chadwick Boseman.

"No one replaces Chadwick, but I think the fans, they know their stuff, too," Bassett saidl "So we have to bring it, we have to come correct.

"Fortunately, we have the wonderful, talented Ryan Coogler and Joe Robert Cole, who is also a co-writer, as well as the same producers, people who just have such a high standard and such a great deal of respect for Panther and what we were able to do before, that we're not going to fall down. We're not going to sit down, on our watch. We're going to bring it."
