AMAZING SPIDER-MAN BEYOND

Marvel Comics has released artwork and details for the Beyond era of Amazing Spider-Man.

Here's how Marvel describes the concept:

"Last week, the Beyond era of Amazing Spider-Man officially kicked off and fans witnessed the beginning of a new age that will see Ben Reilly taking over as the new and improved Spider-Man! Told over the course of 19 thrilling issues, this saga will be brought to you by a group of all-star comics talent known as the Beyond Board -- Patrick Gleason, Saladin Ahmed, Zeb Wells, Kelly Thompson, and Cody Ziglar. These incredible creators are ready to take Ben Reilly and the Spider-Man mythos beyond your wildest expectations!

"Peter Parker may be out of commission but luckily, Ben Reilly is more than capable of taking his place. Equipped with gadgets and tech from the Beyond Corporation, Reilly has everything it takes to be the superior Spider-Man but he'll finally meet his match in a devastating battle against one of the Spider-Man's most feared enemies, Doctor Octopus!

It begins in Amazing Spider-Man #85 by writer Cody Ziglar and artist Paco Medina. It's going to take everything Ben Reilly and the company that backs him has to stop Otto Octavius. But, in the Merry Marvel fashion and as with all respectable Spider-Stories, even if Spider-Man wins, he is going to lose. And he is going to lose BIG. Amazing Spider-Man #86 by writer Zeb Wells and artist Michael Dowling will deal with the aftermath of the fight and will be a comic that fans will remember for years to come. Ben Reilly has been shaken to the core, and you will be too. And find out if Peter Parker can step up and be Spider-Man again in Amazing Spider-Man #87 by writer Jed MacKay and artist Carlos Gomez. With NYC reeling from Doc Ock's attack and Ben Reilly possibly down, it's up to Captain America and Black Cat to see if Peter Parker is ready for action again. You may think you know where this story is going, but you do not."

Marvel also announced a January release for Mary Jane & Black Cat: Beyond #1, a one-shot written by MacKay, with art by C.F. Villa.

This unlikely team up will see Mary Jane coming to the rescue of Black Cat after she's been kidnapped. Mary Jane has never liked Felicia Hardy, and now she has to save her life.

AMC GREENLIGHTS WALKING DEAD ANTHOLOGY

AMC Networks has announced that it has greenlit a new AMC Studios-produced series in the expanding universe and franchise around The Walking Dead.

Tales of the Walking Dead is an episodic anthology series with one-hour stand-alone episodes focused on both new and established characters set in the world of the original series.

Channing Powell, who has been a writer and producer on The Walking Dead and Fear the Walking Dead, will showrun Tales, working closely with Scott M. Gimple, chief content officer of the Walking Dead Universe. An initial season of six episodes is expected to go into production early next year and premiere on AMC+ and AMC next summer.

"The Walking Dead is a show that made television history and attracted an army of passionate and highly engaged fans," said Dan McDermott, president of original programming for AMC Networks and AMC Studios. "We see so much potential for a wide range of rich and compelling storytelling in this world, and the episodic anthology format of Tales of the Walking Dead will give us the flexibility to entertain existing fans and also offer an entry point for new viewers, especially on streaming platforms. We have seen the appeal of this format in television classics like The Twilight Zone and, more recently, Black Mirror, and are excited to engage with fans in this new way, against the backdrop of this very unique and engrossing world.Ħħ

"This series, more than any other in the Walking Dead Universe, runs on new voices, perspectives, and ideas -- bringing to life stories unlike any weĦŻve told before," Gimple said. "I'm thrilled to be Channing's consigliere, helping in every way I can to make those new visions real for the best fans in TV."

"I started as a fan of The Walking Dead and have ended up as a showrunner of what will hopefully be one of its most unique spin-offs. That's nuts and I'm so grateful to AMC and Scott for supporting me and my writers while we pushed, pulled and poked at the boundaries of this universe to bring you something new and unexpected, while hopefully still tending to what core audiences loved so much about the flagship show."
