DYNAMITE'S JOHN CARTER

Chuck Brown is writing and George Kambadais is drawing John Carter, Dynamite Entertainment's newest installment of the character, beginning in April.

Here's how Dynamite describes the title:

"The year is 1919. A mysterious asteroid composed purely of the substance 'Ninth' hurtles toward Earth. Its power miraculously begins to meld and swap the peoples of Earth and Mars. The Warlord of Mars and former Civil War soldier John Carter suddenly finds himself ripped from everything he has come to know and love, pulled back to where he started. One day he's back in Virginia, but battling Martian apes in his homeland! Then what could possibly be happening back on Barsoom? And as these two worlds deal with this chaos, could their struggles collide?"

"I've always been a huge fan of sci-fi and adventure," Brown said. "Like many of us, as a kid I was obsessed with Mars and the other planets in our solar system. Barsoom has such amazing characters and backstories. So it's a huge opportunity for George and I to play in this world."

Kambadais will also be coloring himself and designed the characters,

Covers are by Junggeun Yoon, Jonathan Case, Joseph Michael Linsner and Kambadais.

PROJECT SUPERPOWERS: FRACTURED STATES

PROJECT SUPERPOWERS: Dynamite Entertainment has announced an April launch for Project Superpowers: Fractured States, from writer Ron Marz and artist Emilio Utrera.

Here's how Dynamite describes the title:

"Readers will follow a mysterious John Doe as he awakens in the year 2052. Without memories -- or clothes -- he will enter a United States ravaged by environmental disaster and fragmented into constantly warring regions led by superheroes, villains, and mega corporations. Can he figure it all out?"

"When we were digging into the previous material, we noticed a plethora of patriotic characters," Marz said. "Obviously, that makes complete sense, as many of them date to the 1940s, when America was fighting real-world fascism. That seemed like a viable avenue to explore, since America is dealing with its own fascist impulses right now. It allows us to dig into larger themes like the American dream, and what it means to be American. It's all presented in the guise of a superhero story, but we wanted to make sure we had underpinnings of some meaty stuff in there."

Covers are by Mike Rooth, Geraldo Borges, Paula Andrade, Rus Wooten, Gary Frank and Scott Kolins.
