MARVEL COMICS' WAKANDA

Marvel Comics has announced an Oct. 12 launch for Wakanda, a five-issue series featuring the tapestry of Black Panther.

Here's how Marvel describes the book:

"Spinning out of recent events in John Ridley's epic run on Black Panther, T'Challa is no longer welcome in the land he once ruled. Who is this proud nation without its king? This exciting new mini-series answers that question and more as each issue spotlights a different fan-favorite Wakandan character as they rise up to protect their great nation in exciting new stories by a wide range of creators."

In Wakanda #1, writer Stephanie Williams and artist Paco Medina start things off with a in tale about T'Challa's genius younger sister and former Black Panther, Shuri. Shuri proves that being without the Black Panther doesn't mean Wakanda is without heroes to protect it -- and that there is a reason she too once wielded the power.

"I've been such a huge fan of the Black Panther over the years, especially the evolution and expansion of the women of Wakanda," Williams said. "It's truly an honor to kick off the new series with the Shuri story I wrote. I hope I can add to her and Wakanda's already impressive lore."

Each issue of Wakanda will also contain a "History of the Black Panthers" backup story by writer Evan Narcisse and artist Natacha Bustos, providing for the first time anywhere a definitive overview of all the Wakandans who have held the mantle of the Black Panther.

"I've been a fan of the charm and scale of Natacha Bustos' work for a long time and am thrilled to collaborate with her on a new look at Wakanda's history," Narcisse said. "The tale we're telling will give readers a deeper look at how the Black Panthers of the past led the Unconquered Realm to glory and left a wondrous legacy that Emperor T'Challa still embodies."

The first issue features covers by Mateus Manhanini, Nic Klein and Stanley "Artgerm" Lau.

BOOM! STUDIOS: EVE: CHILDREN OF THE MOON

BOOM! Studios has announced an October launch for Eve: Children of the Moon, a five-issue sequel series from writer Victor LaValle and artist Je Mi-Gyeong.

Here's how BOOM! describes the book:

"The long-awaited return of the best-selling sci-fi adventure is finally here! Eve seemingly saved the world once already, embarking on a perilous quest to protect what remained of humanity after a deadly virus outbreak... but the story doesn't end there! Eve, Eve's sister and Wexler face new challenges, and a darkness from the past."

"When Eve came out I didn't know if readers would love her and her journey as much as I did," LaValle said.. It was a gift when they embraced her as much as they did. And when we were done with issue #5, I realized there was more of her story to tell. But not just hers. The whole world we'd built,Eve saved the world but what happens the day after that? What if the world doesn't take too kindly to saviors?"

Mi-Gyeong is an illustrator based out of Seoul, Korea, best known for her work on Eve and Jim Henson's The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance for BOOM! Studios and the original comic book series Beastlands.

"Children of the Moon is an exciting story that's completely new while still having strong connections to Eve's previous adventures," said Mi-Gyeong. "I'm very excited to go on this journey with Eve, who has grown up, and to show you all the new faces, as well as the various worlds of Eve that we haven't shown yet!"

The first issue features covers by Ario Anindito, Jahnoy Lindsay, Miguel Mercado and Mike Del Mundo..

"The story of the end of the world isn't over yet! Victor and Jo are back to explore newfound corners of the world that Eve and her friends have inherited from previous generations, and discover how they'll save the planet from newfound dangers with familiar faces and brand new characters," said editor Elizabeth Brei.
