AWA Studios has announced a June 7 launch for Sins of The Salton Sea, a five-issue series from writer Ed Brisson and artist C.P. Smith, described as a "high-octane crime thriller with a supernatural twist that asks the weighty question: Is the life of one child worth risking the fate of the world?"

Here's how AWA describes the series:

"Sins of the Salton Sea follows Wyatt, a professional thief living off the grid in the aftermath of a horrible tragedy, who is recruited by his brother to pull off one last job. Their target: an armored car traveling down a desolate stretch of California highway. But when it turns out that the armored car is carrying not gold bars but human cargo, Wyatt is plunged into the middle of a conflict between warring factions of a doomsday cult. The Sins of the Salton Sea claim that it is their solemn duty to save the world by means of human sacrifice. Wyatt must decide if he will protect the boy who has come into his charge or be swayed by the cult's convincing claims that the end of the world is fast approaching."

"Exploring the riveting blend of action and horror in Sins of the Salton Sea made it a lot of fun to write and it has been so exciting to see C.P. Smith's illustrations truly bring the story to life in such a dynamic way," Brisson said. "I'm thrilled Axel (Alonso) and the AWA team gave me the opportunity to tell this fast-paced and exhilarating adventure, and I hope readers love it as much as we do."

"Ed is an extraordinary talent playing to his strengths, and he's perfectly paired with C.P. Smith, whose neo-noir style brilliantly captures the tension and atmosphere of Ed's scripts. Sins of the Salton Sea takes a familiar trope - a criminal looking to make one last score - and completely turns it on its head," said Alonso, co-founder and chief creative officer of AWA Studios. "Part conspiracy thriller, part chase movie, part cult-based horror, with plenty of twists and turns to keep readers wondering, Is Wyatt doing the right thing?"

BOOM!'S WILD'S END: BOOM! Studios has announced a June 21 release date for Wild's End, from writer Dan Abnett and artist I.N.J. Culbard.

Here's how the book is described:

"Journey once again to an alien occupied England where anthropomorphic citizens fight off the interstellar invaders in Wild's End. Out at sea during the invasion, our intimate crew of unlucky voyagers returns to a world they once knew, now occupied by an invading alien force!"

"Ian and I are regular partners-in-crime, and I'm delighted to be returning to BOOM! Studios with him to create a new chapter of our all-time favorite collaboration, Wild's End," Abnett said.

Wild's End features covers by Culbard, Francesco Francavilla, Ariel Olivetti and InHyuk Lee.

INVADER COMICS' DARLA: Invader Comics has announced a May 31 release date for Darla, from writer Josh Ruben and artist Briana Tippetts.

Here's how the book is described:

"After an accident at work and systematic poisoning through fracking-spoiled groundwater, Darla's world begins to unravel as she loses her grip on her sanity and reality. Darla explores the disturbing underbelly of Americana through politics, health, psychosis and murder."

"First, I discovered Briana Tippetts and knew I had to collaborate with her," Ruben said. "Then, I gave her this twisted little tale and told her to run with it. What Briana delivered -- with superhuman timing, might I add -- eviscerated my expectations. Her work is equal parts charming, eerie, gruesome, and fun ... in essence, perfect for Darla. That Mike Perkins and Kevin Miller were down to publish our madness with Invader Comics made the whole process all the more exciting. As for what fans can expect... dark, wicked, kinda sweet, cringey-funny story about an embittered soul with an obsession for a local politician. Also, there's a monster!"

"It's been an absolute pleasure having the opportunity to work with Josh! He handed me a world and characters that he created with love, detail and care, and allowed me to adapt them visually using my own style," Tippetts said. "He has treated me like an absolute equal from the beginning, which is not something to take for granted as a woman working in a male-dominated field. His work is brilliant and I am honored that he chose me as a teammate for this project."

EDGE VARIANT: Marvel Comics has released the first of Josemaria Casanovas' connecting variant covers for Edge of Spider-Verse #1. This cover fatures Spider-Killer.

Edge of Spider-Verse #1 will also feature the roaring return of Spider-Rex and the daring debut of Venomsaurus in a story by writer Karla Pacheco and artist Pere Perez.
