DAVID GOYER TO DIRECT BLADE IIIDavid Goyer will be writing and directing the third installment of the Blade franchise at New Line Cinema. Goyer, who also wrote the first two Blade films, is currently writing the new Batman movie for Warner Bros. He also co-wrote the upcoming Freddie vs. Jason for New Line. Goyer previously directed Zig Zag. According to Variety, Blade III could begin production this summer in Vancouver, British Columbia. Wesley Snipes is returning in the lead role.
LEAGUE OF EXTRAORDINARY GENTLEMEN MOVIE UPDATE20th Century Fox has provided The Continuum with seven images from The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen movie. The film, starring Sean Connery in an adaptation of Alan Moore's America's Best Comics series, is due in theaters on July 11. Connery plays Allan Quartermain Two of the images feature Peta Wilson as vampiress Mina Harker. The cast also includes Tony Curran as the Invisible Man, Jason Flemyng as Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde, Shane West as Tom Sawyer and Naseeruddin Shah as Captain Nemo. RAY PARK TALKS IRON FISTRay Park told The Continuum that he remains interested in playing Iron Fist in a live-action film. "I still want to do it, of course," Park told The Continuum at Wizard World East in Philadelphia. "We better hurry before I get too old (laughs), but we're doing it." The film is set up as part of Marvel's deal with Artisan Entertainment, which also includes The Punisher. A screenplay for Iron Fist was written by John Turman. Kirk Wong at one time was attached as director but has fallen out of the project. "I get asked all the time when Iron Fist is going to happen," said Park, best known as Darth Maul in Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace and Toad in X-Men. "I want to make the film happen."
WIZARD WORLD EAST: VERTIGO PANEL
Paul Chadwick is stepping in to give Pia Guerra a spell on Y: The Last Man, drawing two issues. Chadwick will team up with writer Brian K. Vaughan on Y: The Last Man #16-17. "It's a slice of life away from the main characters," editor Will Dennis said of the story. "It features a traveling troops of thespians." WIZARD WORLD EAST: CROSSGEN PANELThe Crossovers creator/writer Robert Rodi said that The Crossovers television series, optioned by Davis Entertainment, could reach the airwaves as early as this fall. "We had an option by the second issue because these CrossGen people take their media extensions seriously," Rodi said at CrossGen's Code 6/CGE panel on Sunday at Wizard World East in Philadelphia.
