MARVEL COMICS NEWS ROUNDUP

Marvel Comics has revealed details about New Mutants' tie-in to Fear Itself.

In August's New Mutants #29, artist David Lafuente joins writers Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning to send the New Mutants on a mission through each realm of the World Tree.

"The New Mutants have a direct line to the Norse gods via Dani. We honestly can't believe what they're letting us do to the team do Fear Itself," Abnett and Lanning said in a join statment. "We can't give it all away, but we're taking our heroes to hell... and Hel... and back!"

Here's how Marvel describes the story:

"The darkest forces of the Nine Worlds have been left unchecked in the wake of the Serpent's attack on Earth and Odin's protectors need every warrior they have to combat them. As the rest of the X-Men band together to defend San Francisco from The Worthy's unstoppable rampage, the New Mutants are going to find themselves pulled out of their home turf and into a conflict far beyond the scale of anything ever encountered."

In other Marvel news:

* The publisher has announced a June 8 release for second printings of Amazing Spider-Man #655-659, featuring the "Nobody Dies" story, written by Dan Slott, with art by Marcos Martin, Humberto Ramos, Javier Pulido and Stefano Caselli.

THE LAST DAYS OF AMERICAN CRIME MOVIE

Film financing and sales company IM Global and Radical Studios are partnering on The Last Days of American Crime, it was announced jointly by IM Global CEO and Founder Stuart Ford and Radical's Barry Levine and Jesse Berger.

The action thriller is based on the Radical graphic novel written by Rick Remender, with a script by Karl Gadejsak and starring Sam Worthington, whose Full Clip Productions label is producing alongside Automatik.

F. Gary Gray is attached to direct the film, with a fall start date.

Michael Schwarz of Full Clip Productions will produce alongside Radical's Levine and Berger. Executive Producers will be IM Global's Ford, Worthington and Automatik's Brian Kavanaugh-Jones.

Here's how Radical describes the movie:

"The Last Days of American Crime is a hard-boiled heist film set in the very near future where the government plans to implement a form of legal mind control, making it impossible for its citizens to commit unlawful acts. Career criminal Graham Bricke (Worthington) must put together the last heist in American history Ð on the last night crime is possible."

Said Ford: "This is such a powerful, iconic piece of material -- we really believe this movie can bring something fresh to the noir universe and become an explosive action feature film. We're delighted to be working alongside the super talented Radical team, Gary and Sam."

Said Levine: "The Last Days of American Crime graphic novel is one of the most coveted titles in the Radical catalogue and our most successful international seller. In the development of this film, we have always been committed to staying true to the core material because that is what attracted Full Clip principals Michael Schwarz, John Schwarz and Sam in the first place and is what brought us together with IM Global."
