X-MEN SEQUEL UPDATE

Ralph Winter, producer of X-Men and X2, said that a third installment of the film franchise could happen soon.

"We certainly want to have an X-Men 3," Winter said. "We're saving sets, we're saving pieces that we didn't get to use like the Danger Room. Yeah, we're talking about it and hopefully this movie performs and we'll see ourselves doing this again."

There was a three-year gap between X-Men and X2, and Winter was asked if it will take as long for the next one.

"It might be a little less," Winter said. "We've got now some momentum. We did a good job on the first one making it for a price, which allowed us to be here today. So I think if we can figure out the story quickly, we could be out there maybe in a two-year period."

Director Bryan Singer said he particularly enjoyed working on X2 and is keeping an open mind about returning for a third film.

"In terms of another film, the ideas are here and there are things layered into this film which lend themselves to the future," Singer said.

Winter and Singer made their comments on Tuesday during an online chat. Beginning today, The Continuum offers edited transcriptions of the question-and-answer sessions.
