THE DARK KNIGHT/SPEED RACER PREVIEWS

Warner Bros. released its summer preview press kit on Friday afternoon, including 16 images from The Dark Knight and Speed Racer.

Several of the images have been previously released, but they are all shown here.

The Dark Knight will be in theaters on July 18.

Here's how Warner Bros. describes the film:

"The Dark Knight reunites director Christopher Nolan with star Christian Bale, who returns to continue Batman's war on crime. With the help of Lieutenant Jim Gordon (Gary Oldman) and District Attorney Harvey Dent (Aaron Eckhart), Batman sets out to destroy organized crime in Gotham for good. The triumvirate proves to be effective, but they soon find themselves prey to a rising criminal mastermind known as the Joker (Heath Ledger), who thrusts Gotham into anarchy and forces the Dark Knight ever closer to crossing the fine line between hero and vigilante."

Speed Racer will be in theaters on May.

Here's how Warner Bros. describes the film:

"Born to race cars, Speed Racer (Emile Hirsch) is aggressive, instinctive and, most of all, fearless. His only real competition is the memory of the brother he idolized--the legendary Rex Racer, whose death in a race has left behind a legacy that Speed is driven to fulfill. Speed is loyal to the family racing business, led by his father, Pops Racer (John Goodman), the designer of Speed's thundering Mach 5. When Speed turns down a lucrative and tempting offer from Royalton Industries, he not only infuriates the company's maniacal owner (Roger Allam) but uncovers a terrible secret‹some of the biggest races are being fixed by a handful of ruthless moguls who manipulate the top drivers to boost profits. If Speed won't drive for Royalton, Royalton will see to it that the Mach 5 never crosses another finish line. The only way for Speed to save his family's business and the sport he loves is to beat Royalton at his own game. With the support of his family and his loyal girlfriend, Trixie (Christina Ricci), Speed teams with his one-time rival -- the mysterious Racer X (Matthew Fox) -- to win the race that had taken his brother's life: the death-defying, cross-country rally known as The Crucible."

BEN TEMPLESMITH EXCLUSIVE TO IDW PUBLISHING

Artist Ben Templesmith, co-creator of 30 Days of Night, has signed an exclusive contract with IDW Publishing.

Templesmith recently relocated to San Diego from his native Perth, Australia, and will create new series for IDW as well as continue to produce miniseries based on his Wormwood Gentleman Corpse.

In August, Templesmith will debut his latest series, Welcome to Hoxford, and, as with Wormwood and his Singularity 7 series, will handle all writing and art duties himself.

Here's how IDW describes Welcome to Hoxford:

"Welcome to Hoxford is a horrific new series that features an unique and terrifying take on werewolves. In the debut issue, Raymond Delgado is the newest inmate at the Hoxford Correctional Facility and Mental Institution. He's has no hope of release, parole, rehabilitation, or decent conversation. On a good day, he'll tell you he's Zeus and only bite your arm off -- literally. On a bad day, you won't have time to scream to the prison guard for help. But Dr Jessica Ainley, his doctor for five years, wants to help Ray and can't understand why the newly privatized, corporately-run prison won't give her access to her patients. And why are people always transferred into Hoxford, but no records show anyone ever transferring back out."

Templesmith will also release The Art of Wormwood in August, the third such art book he has produced.

"I'm incredibly lucky to have been given the opportunity to continuously work at IDW over the years now and basically have them be the launch pad for anything I've ever wanted to do in comics, so I just saw this as a natural progression and a great chance to be more involved from the ground floor up," Templesmith said.
