BLADE: TRINITY UPDATE

Jessica Biel, who plays Abigail Whistler in Blade: Trinity, earned praise from the filmmakers for her action-scene abilities.

"She's like a female action figure come to life," Blade: Trinity writer/director David Goyer said. :We had her doing incredibly complicated moves where she was taking on three or four people at once, with no cuts. She's a natural at all of that."

"Working with Jessica has been incredible," said Clay Fontenot, stunt coordinator and Blade stunt double. "She's a great physical specimen and is a very quick learner and is capable of doing almost anything we throw at her."

"She has the kind of natural ability you don't come across very often," said fight choreographer Chuck Jeffreys. "I have worked with professional stunt people who are not able to learn the moves as quickly as she has done."

In addition to a rigorous regime of exercise and fight training, Biel also had to learn to operate Abigail's special weapons, including a compound bow.

"I canšt say enough about Jessica Biel and her work ethic," archery coach Chuck Land said. "When I teach somebody to shoot, the first thing we discuss is technique, but more important than anything else is turning them into somebody who is very attentive to what is going on during the shot-making process. There are 12 elements in the shot-making process and we trained one element as a time until we had gone through them all.

"She is just an unbelievable athlete. I honestly wish I had 12 more like her because I would be the most famous archery coach in the world. Every session was photographed and the next day she would look at the photographs and she would analyze them herself to see her progress and elements that needed work."
