NECROMANCER LAUNCHES AT WIZARD WORLD CHICAGO

Top Cow Productions has announced it will premiere Necromancer -- a supernatural superheroine drama by the creative team of SF novelist Joshua Ortega -- and artist Francis Manapul -- Aug. 4-7 at Wizard World Chicgo.

Necromancer follows the adventures of Abigail van Alstine, an all-too-naīve teenager who finds herself unwillingly thrust into the world of sorcery, and a demonic plot to conquer the earth that dates back over 300 years.

"Joshua is a fresh face in comics, but an experienced writer in the world of novels. Francis has extensive experience in comics, but is doing the work of his career on Necromancer," said Top Cow editor-in-chief Jim McLauchlin.

"Having Francis on the book is incredible...the work he's doing is utterly amazing, and we're both excited about the series and the chance to work together," Ortega said.

Necromancer #1 will be in comic stores Aug. 10, and ships with covers by Manapul, Chris Bachalo and Greg Horn.

JSA Classified #1, presenting the long-awaited origin of Power Girl, has sold out at DC Comics one day after reaching stores on July 20. This issue features the first part of the 4-issue story "Power Trip," written by Geoff Johns and illustrated by Amanda Conner and Jimmy Palmiotti.

Now, DC Comics sends the issue back to press for a new printing featuring a pencil version of the cover by Adam Hughes.

"I knew that JSA Classified would do pretty well, 'cause when I'm at conventions a lot of people tell me that they love Power Girl...but I had no idea the book would sell out and go to a second printing," Conner said.

360EP'S ADVENT RISING

360ep has announced a new comic book series based on Majesco Entertainment's video game, Advent Rising, which was released in May. The six-issue comic series serves as a prequel to the video game's storyline and introduces readers to the Advent Trilogy via the game's hero, Gideon Wyeth. When completed, the six-issue series will also be combined into a trade paperback.

"The Advent Rising comic book is an exciting result of our efforts in establishing greater awareness of our top-tier titles through franchise activities," said Ken Gold, vice president of Marketing for Majesco. "We're excited to be partnering with 360ep to introduce Advent Rising to the avid community of comic book enthusiasts."

The book is written by Rob Worley, with art by Cliff Richards and Dennis Crisostomo and colors by Cris DeLara.

Covers for the first issue are by Greg Horn and Richards.

"At its core, a successful comic book is one that focuses on strong, compelling characters who, despite difficult odds, persevere and overcome events seemingly larger than themselves," said Bill Jemas, CEO of 360ep. The Advent Rising comic book masterfully combines these themes into a wonderful story and unfolds it in a beautifully illustrated panorama of design."
