COMING MONDAY

First Looks -- and much more!

IRON MAN MOVIE ROUNDUP

Robert Downey Jr., star of the upcoming Iron Man movie, said he hopes the film has a unique place among comic-book movies.

"We were always trying to put our own fingerprint on it, so it didn't seem like you were just caught up in that technical realm," he said. "You can smell it when you're watching a movie. You just see that everybody gave up the ghost so that the machinery would be in frame."

Downey acknowledged the positive reaction to his casting probably fed his determination for the role.

"I'm not an incurable perfectionist, but I'm a hard worker and I take it real serious, seriously enought to know by the end of the day, by the time you're shooting it and you've exhausted every opportunity to make it watchable, then you relax and enjoy it," he said.

"There some enjoyment doing Iron Man. There was a lot of moments of just pure bliss and understanding and feeling at one with the movie universe and the whole thing. But for the most part, we cranked and rocked and worked our asses off and tried to figured out how to not do this scene in the super-hero movie ever again the way we've seen it 10 times."

In other Iron Man news, Diamond has announced that one of its exclusives for the New York Comic Con on April 18-20 will be an Iron Man Mark 1 Armor Battle-Damaged Wobbler from Funko. Cast in vinyl and 7 inches tall, the Wobbler will be limited to 1,500 pieces.
