MAN-THING MOVIE ON SCI FI

The Man-Thing movie will debut on Sci Fi Channel on April 30, The Continuum has learned.

Here's how the network describes the film:

"Angry conflicts arise between an oil tycoon developer and the Seminole Indians who are being pushed out of their ancestral homelands. When construction crewmembers start turning up dead, law enforcement immediately suspects the Seminoles. But further investigation points to the swamp creature known as Man-Thing, a dangerous entity that feeds off human emotion and literally burns those who know fear."

The film is produced by Lions Gate and will be released by the studio in its R-rated version on DVD later this year.

SMALLVILLE UPDATE

The WB has released an image from "Krypto," the Wednesday, Feb. 16 episode of Smallville.

Here's how the network describes the episode:

" While driving, Lois (Erica Durance) accidentally hits a dog and she brings it back to the farm to heal. Clark (Tom Welling) realizes this is no ordinary dog after the pup lifts up a car to retrieve a ball. Clark and Lois learn the dog is a product of an aborted LuthorCorp experiment and is being used to commit crimes, but when Lois is kidnapped by the robbers and Clark is weakened by kryptonite, it is up to the dog to save them. Meanwhile, Lana (Kristin Kreuk) questions Jason's (Jensen Ackles) involvement in his mother's (guest star Jane Seymour) schemes."

The episode was written by Luke Schelhaas and directed by James Marshall.

Spider-Man Complete Set on CDROM

IMAGE COMICS' DEATH, JR.

Beginning this April, Courtney Crumrin creator and Gloomcookie artist Ted Naifeh and writer Gary Whitta will chronicle the adventures of the Grim Reaper's only child in Death, Jr., a bi-monthly mini-series debuting from Image Comics in association with Backbone Entertainment.

Here's how Image describes the book:

"Death, Jr. enjoys being a kid, hanging with his friends, and generally staying out of trouble. All of that changes when he and his friends accidentally unleash an ancient evil into the world. From there it's up to DJ and his pals to clean up the mess before his dad finds out. After all, no one wants to tangle with the Grim Reaper on a bad day.

"Part of the appeal of the book is the quirky cast of friends: Pandora, a little goth girl; Smith & Weston, conjoined twins; Stigmartha, a girl who bleeds when she gets nervous; and The Seep, an armless, legless, foreign exchange student in a jar."

Death, Jr. is currently in development as an exclusive title for the upcoming Sony PSP handheld entertainment system, which will also be released in the spring. Along with the comic book and videogame, a feature film based on the character is in preproduction with Media 8 Entertainment.

"We created a pretty huge world for Death, Jr, only a small part of which you get to see in the game," said Backbone CEO Jon Goldman. "Gary and Ted have done a fantastic job creating an awesome comic, and enabling people to get in and experience the world of Death, Jr in a really exciting way."

The first story arc will encompass three full-color, 48-page, prestige format books.
