RUNES OF RAGNAN AT IMAGE COMICS

Starting with #2, the mini-series Runes of Ragnan moves to Jim Valentino's Shadowline imprint at Image Comics.

Taking place over a period of a thousand years, the story of two warring Viking brothers and their quest to collect the Runes of Ragnan travels from the rocky terrain of a 9th century Nordic land to the urban decay of today's cities. Complete with action and intrigue, Runes of Ragnan is an epic fantasy/high adventure in the tradition of recent successes Conan and Red Sonja.

"This is the kind of epic sword-and-sorcery, son of Frazetta story I love!" said Valentino. "Every page is a masterpiece; the story is rich and compelling. This is what comics are supposed to be! Wešre proud to be representing Runes of Ragnan to the buying public."

Runes of Ragnan #2 will arrive in stores in January. Featuring story by Ty Gorton, art by Josh Medors, Ryan Wynn and Jay Fotos, the second issue continues the story: After a Viking warlord uses an ancient ritual to unleash a powerful demon, his twin brother races against time to stop his quest for world domination. As the battle rages on, the people of the land are caught in the middle/ An Order of Druids steps into the middle of the fray, and the epic battle for world domination ensues.

Silent Devil published #1, and is working with Shadowline to bring the title to a larger audience. The production studio also recently released the Dracula vs. King Arthur mini-series.

ERIK LARSEN TALKS SAVAGE DRAGON RETURN

Image Comics publisher Erik Larsen is bringing Savage Dragon back to the shelves for the first time in eight months with Savage Dragon #122 in November.

"The publisher gig has taken up a lot more time than I ever expected and starting off I was incredibly hands on. So much so that I ended up doing a lot of work on other books - most of it uncredited," Larsen said. "Learning to delegate hasn't been easy, but I learned a lot in the process and that knowledge will, ultimately, be put to good use on Savage Dragon.

"That being said, Savage Dragon#122 is just wrapping up, #123 is well on its way and by the time January rolls around, I should be pretty far along. Well into #125, if I keep going as I have been. And there's no good reason that that shouldn't be the case, so the book will ship on time, every month."

Coming months will see some radical changes in the Dragon's life.

"Savage Dragon has always been a sort of epic book," Larsen said. "Things start small and build to a huge cataclysmic event and the issues coming up really kick things into high gear. There's a character in the book now, Mister Glum, that has appeared to be rather harmless and cute, but he takes on a vastly different role over the next few issues. Ultimately, the result will be a book which is vastly different from what it has been in the last few years and more like it was in the start."
