X-MEN SECOND AT BOX OFFICE

After a record-setting first weekend, X-Men: The Last Stand took a big plunge and placed second over the weekend.

The film was upset by The Break-Up, the Vince Vaughn-Jennfier Aniston movie that brought in an estimated and more-than-expected $38.1 million.

Dropping 67 percent from its first weekend, X-Men: The Last Stand brought in $34.4 million. "I'm not shocked at that drop," 20th Century Fox distribution head Bruce Snyder told the Associated Press.

The third movie in the X-Men franchise still figures to be the biggest, with a projected final take in the $240-$250 million range.

X-Men: The Last Stand has brought in $175.7 million in 10 days, something that took X2 18 days to accomplish. It has passed the Da Vinci Code domestically and could pass Ice Age: The Meltdown this week as the year's top film to date.
