CIVIL WAR UPDATE: THUNDERBOLTS

Thunderbolts #103, due in stores on June 14, will tie into Marvel Comics' Civil War event.

"As usual, the Thunderbolts plan to do some good, even if ultimately, it's for their OWN good," writer Fabian Nicieza told The Continuum. "Everything happening during the Civil War plays out against the larger storyline in the Marvel Universe and precisely to the plans Zemo has had for the T-Bolts for many months now. Supervillains... excuse me, I mean superheroes, love serendipity..."

Here's how Marvel describes the issue, which has art by Tom Grummett:

"As heroes battle each other over the Super Hero Registration Act in Civil War, the former super villains-turned-heroes choose a side in Thunderbolts #103. And the Thunderbolts are looking to put a hurting on a whole lot of heroes.

"Zemo and the rest of the team have been on both sides of the law in the past. The question is: which side will they choose now?"

BOMB QUEEN VS. BLACKLIGHT

Following the solicitation of Bomb Queen vs. Blacklight last week, Shadowline's Jim Valentino on Monday released the full cover, with trade dress.

The one-shot, scheduled for August, is written by Scott Wherle and drawn by Bomb Queen creator Jimmie Robinson, with colors by Jason Embury.

Here's how Shadowline describes the 28-page book:

"This pyrotechnic one-shot opens on Bomb Queen and Blacklight finding themselves in Las Vegas for conventions (a weapons convention and a comic con, respectively). The girls come to odds over the Intimidator, a weapon so deadly it's the only one of its kind and that's when the 'catfight' ensues."

"We wanted to see what happens when Shadowline's resident good girl, Blacklight, faces down Bomb Queen, whose mini-series placed her at the top spot for baddest woman in comics," Valentino said. "Scott and Jimmie found a story that will have everyone howling, and begging for more."

Valentino noted that more Bomb Queen is on the way, with Bomb Queen: WMD (Women of Mass Destruction) in July, followed by a second Bomb Queen mini-series.

DEVI #1 PREVIEW

Fledgling publisher Virgin Comics on Monday provided The Continuum with a preview of its first title, Devi #1, which goes on sale on July 12.

The book is written by Siddharth Kotain, with art and cover by Mukesh Singh.

Here's how Virgin describes the issue:

"The rapid decay of the city of Sitapur and its festering crime forged by the fearsome renegade god Bala has forced the divine pantheon to re-birth a fierce feminine warrior by the name of Devi!

"Taking the form of a young city girl now cast as a 'warrior of the light,' the Devi finds her only ally is a burnt out detective whose made quite a name for himself as a hunter of the strange creatures that lurk the city's underbelly.

"A modern take on a very ancient myth."

The publisher also announced that Virgin Comics Issue Zero, a free 24-page introduction to Virgin Comics, will be released at comic-book stores and Virgin Megastores on June 28.

BRIEFLY

* Diamond has released its list of sales figures for April, with Marvel Comics again topping market share and dollar share. For the complete charts, CLICK HERE.

* Silent Devil has announced a publishing deal with creator Josh Wagner for Fiction Clemens. Part science-fiction, part western and part psychedelic, Fiction Clemens centers on a cross-dressing cowboy living on a Wild West-type planet that must break his cycle of violence to lead his people into the Space Age.

"This is a different kind of story," Wagner said. "Clemens is trapped in a cycle of old west Karma or de ja vu. He has these mystical experiences, but he's really down to earth. A Zen gun-slinger. It's a gun fighter story that's designed to blow your mind."

* Jessica Alba, star of Sin City and Fantastic Four, will be a presenter at the ALMA Awards, to be televised by ABC on Monday, June 5.
