IMAGE COMICS FOR FEBRUARY

Image Comics has released its solicitations for February.

For a rundown, with images, CLICK HERE.

IMAGE COMICS' BOMB QUEEN

Bomb Queen, a four-issue mini-series written and illustrated by Jimmie Robinson, will debut in February through Image Comics' Shadowline imprint.

"Bomb Queen is out to shake things up," Robinson said. "She takes no prisoners and plays for keeps."

Bomb Queen shows Robinson returning to the dystopian science fiction that put him on the map. Bomb Queen is the dictator of New Port City. An unrepentant super-villain, who killed all the local heroes, re-wrote the laws in her favor, and set herself up as dictator for life. And the citizens of New Port City couldnšt approve more highly.

Robinson explained: "Bomb Queen is not about a reluctant, crybaby villain. Bomb Queen is about a perfect villain and the society that allows her to kill everyone that stands against her, and rule everyone that stands with her."

Robinsonšs Bomb Queen doubles as a commentary on our own times.

"This book is definitely social commentary thatšs filled with mordant wit," Robinson said. I'm aiming at a mature audience who comes in looking for a killer roller-coaster jolt of a story, but who comes back because every issue reveals another layer of subtext that makes the whole series even more explosive."

JUDO GIRL RETURNS

Blue Water Productions' Judo Girl returns in April with a new mini-series from Alias Comics, written by Johnny Lowe and drawn by Alex Julian.

Here's how Blue Water describes the mini-series:

"The villainous Hep Cat is back! He and Judo Girl had a kinda-almost-sorta-maybe relationship long-ago, but while Judo Girl has emerged into the 21st century still in her early 20s, Hep Cat is now in his 60s! How will this new age gap affect these two lost lovers, and can Hep Cat and Judo Girl ever really be together?"

"Judo Girl generally has an upbeat, positive personality, and so will make plenty of humorous remarks during her encounters with the bad guys, though it'll be somewhat less than in the first mini-series," Lower said.

Also expect an appearance by Atlas, and the return of the Judo Girl villain, Silencer who first appeared in The Legend of Isis #5.

"Silencer is a good adversary for Judo Girl as she too is obviously trained in many fighting techniques," said Lowe. "Of course, Silencer doesn't speak except in rare moments, so Judo Girl will try and take up the slack in the repartee -- which might annoy and anger Silencer even more!"
