MID-OHIO-CON: TOM SCIOLI TALKS GØDLAND

Tom Scioli, artist of Image Comics' Gødland, told The Continuum that Gødland #8 will reveal the major character Iboga.

"He's our big cosmic god character," Scioli told The Contnuum Saturday at Mid-Ohio-Con in Columbus, Ohio. "The most fun page for me to draw yet was the double-page splash that introduces his whole story."

Image released a promotional image for the issue -- fourth on the right in the series above -- but it's not certain if that is Iboga.

Here's how the issue was solicited:

"All the answers are within! When the secret of Iboga is finally revealed, will Adam Archer be able to comprehend or even accept the ultimate truth? Cosmic deities and unimaginable ideas collide as Gødland shows you the money!"

Scioli said that reaction to the Kirby-esque series -- written by Joe Casey -- has been overwhelmingly positive.

"The is the first time I've ever done any with a reaction on this scale," he said. "It's worked beautifully on every level, from the designs by Richard Starking to the coloring of Bill Crabtree and then Joe Casey's scripts."

Scioli has never met Casey in the flesh, but said the team-up has been perfect.

"I was surprised at how in synch we were," he said. "I've never met a writer who wanted to do exactly the same kind of stuff I wanted to do."

The first two issues of Gødland sold out at Image, the first trade paperback has already been solicited and Adam Archer is getting the Hero Clix treatment.

With a book that's generating so much buzz and is so creator specific, Scioli said he is determined to keep the title on schedule. With Gødland #5 out last Wednesday, he is already at work on #10.

"I want to work on this forever," he said. "It's just a perfect fit."

MID-OHIO-CON: HULK PANEL

Paul Jenkins, writer of Universal's The Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction video game, said he is pleased with the reaction of the game.

"Now that the video game is out and everyone seems to love it, I may do another one, if they ask me to do it," Jenkins said Saturday at the Hulk panel at Mid-Ohio-Con.

Jenkins appeared at the panel with former Hulk writers Peter David and Sean McKeever.
