THE DARK KNIGHT WINS CRITICS' CHOICE AWARDS

A night after winning five People's Choice Awards, The Dark Knight won two more awards Thursday night at the Critics' Choice Awards in Santa Monica, Calif.

The late Heath Ledger was honored as Supporting Actor, and the Batman sequel won for Action Movie.

The Dark Knight director Christopher Nolan accepted the Supporting Actor on Ledger's behalf.

"Anyone who's seen any of the extraoridnary work that Heath did knows that I can't presume to speak for him in anyway because his voice was unique as it was original," Nolan said, accepting the award in front of the large, black-and-white images of Ledger.

"I can presume to speak for those of us who were lucky enough to work with him. And I know that I speak for all of us when I say that working with him was one of the greatest experiences any of us have ever had or probably ever will have.

"And I would like to think that he would be quietly proud of the effect his role in The Dark Knight has had on audiences. He was a joy to work with, he is incredibly missed and his contribution to cinema should be greatly appreciated.

"So thank you for this measure of appreciation."
