LADY DEATH MOVIE UPDATE

Andy Orjuela, director/producer of Lady Death: The Motion Picture, said that he was a fan Brian Pulido's character before tackling the project.

"When I first got involved. I really understood where Brian held Lady Death," Orjuela said. "As a fellow creator, you have to respect that."

Pulido agreed.

"Since the beginning, I knew that Andy got it," Pulido said. "I don't know what your perspecitive is, but I haven't seen anything quite like Lady Death in live-action or animation. Sure, you see these girl-power films, but nothing like Lady Death.

"It's its own thing. And Andy got that. I feel real confident that he's held the torch."

Lady Death arrives in stores on Tuesday from ADV Films, and, after a screening at Comic-Con International, Pulido told The Continuum he thinks Lady Death fans will be happy.

"We had to open a second room, there were so many people," Pulido said. "Everyone seemed to enjoy it."

The film is the first original production from ADV and will also appear on the Anime Network later this year.

FANTASTIC FOUR MOVIE UPDATE

Laurie Holden has been cast in Fantastic Four as Debbie, the fiancee of Michael Chiklis' Ben Grimm.

Holden's credits include The Majestic and The X-Files.

Alicia Masters, who is played by Kerry Washington, also becomes The Thing's love interest in the film.

During a roundtable interview at Comic-Con International, Chiklis said he could relate to his character.

"I could understand, you know, a guy feeling like unattractive and feeling like he's kind of on the outs, but yet feeling like you had something to offer," he said. "And feeling like there was something that you could do, and having a good inside of you and all of that. So I just liked him on a personal level."

Chiklis said the film deals with the tragic elements of The Thing.

"I'm the one who looks at it as a malady," he said. "Sue's still gorgeous but she can knock people down with this force field. She can disappear. He (Reed) can stretch himself, but he's still the handsome, dashing cad. I'm this leper. And then when I ... I don't want to give anything away, but I'm dealing with a sense of betrayal in this picture."
