HUGH JACKMAN TALKS X-MEN 3

Hugh Jackman, who played Wolverine in the first two X-Men movies, said he isn't locked into an X3 yet.

"I don't want to sound ungrateful, but first of all, I don't know what the script's going to be like. I don't know what it will be like," Jackman said at the recent press junket for Van Helsing, which opens Friday.

"But I would find it very, very hard to watch someone else play the role of Wolverine, you know. But, you know, I've had a really great go of it for two movies, so you never know. They may want to move it in different directions, so we'll see what happens in it."

Jackman said a third X-Men film doesn't feel gratuitous.

"I can see there being complete validity in doing X-Men 3, if not more," he said. "I mean, I think it (X2) cemented what was a really interesting world."

Marvel Studios is targeting X3 for a May 3, 2006 release.

SPIDER-MAN 2 UPDATE

Major League Baseball Properties has teamed with Columbia Pictures and Marvel Studios for a marketing partnership to support Spider-Man 2, it was jointly announced on Wednesday by Geoffrey Ammer, president of worldwide marketing for the Columbia TriStar Motion Picture Group and Tim Brosnan, EVP Business, Major League Baseball.

The focus of the marketing partnership will be a weekend of Spider-Man 2 events coordinated with Major League Baseball Properties and the 15 MLB Clubs hosting home games June 11-13.

During Spider-Man 2 Weekend, which has been scheduled during a segment of the 2004 Major League Baseball Interleague Play schedule, ballparks will feature in-park and on-field Spider-Man signage and each Club will feature special Spider-Man promotional events, including giveaways. In addition, highlights from Spider-Man 2 will run on stadium video boards to promote the motion picture's June 30 release. Major League Baseball Properties and the 15 participating clubs will promote Spider-Man 2 Weekend locally in each market and nationally.

"This is the perfect alliance between two quintessential national pastimes -- baseball and movie going," said Ammer. "This partnership celebrates superheroes, whether they are on the field or on the big screen and we are extremely excited about the opportunity to create this unique promotion with Major League Baseball."

"Spider-Mam 2 Weekend is a part of our continuing marketing efforts to appeal to younger fans in new and non-traditional ways," said Brosnan. "We anticipate that Spider-Man 2 will break records at our ballparks and in the theaters."

Major League Baseball clubs playing host to Spider-Man 2 Weekend are the Anaheim Angels, Baltimore Orioles, Boston Red Sox, Chicago White Sox, Cleveland Indians, Detroit Tigers, Kansas City Royals, Milwaukee Brewers, Minnesota Twins, New York Yankees, Oakland Athletics, Seattle Mariners, Tampa Bay Devil Rays, Texas Rangers and Toronto Blue Jays.

STRYKEFORCE #1 SELLS OUT

Diamond is currently reporting that Top Cow and Image Comics' Strykeforce #1 has completely sold out of its print run through the distributor.

In lieu of a second printing at this point, Top Cow is releasing its inventory of the convention exclusive edition -- originally intended to be sold throughout the summer convention season -- at a reduced price to meet immediate demand. This edition features a Marc Silvestri and Tyler Kirkham sketch cover.

In addition, Top Cow plans to publish the complete first issue for free on its website, www.topcow.com. Strykeforce #2 reaches shelves on Wednesday.

"Once we heard the book sold out, we wanted to get more copies into readers' hands," said Joel Elad, Top Cow Director of Marketing and Sales. "Therefore, we took surplus copies of the sketch cover intended for the summer conventions, cut the price, and renumbered them as Regular Edition books for the consumers to enjoy."

WILDSTORM RETOOLS IMPRINTS

Starting with Ex Machina promotional items, projects from WildStorm Productions will feature a new set of branding marks. The three redesigned brands -- to be displayed on covers, advertising, posters, the WildStorm website and elsewhere -- encompass series set in the WildStorm Universe, creator-driven projects, and licensed and other properties.

The brands will appear on all WildStorm projects and include the following:

* Wildstorm Universe: for projects set in the same universe, such as Sleeper, The Authority, Sleeper Season 2, Planetary and others.

* WildStorm Signature Series: for creator-driven projects such as Astro City, Arrowsmith and Ex Machina that are not part of the WildStorm Universe.

* WildStorm: for licensed properties such as Thundercats.

"It just made more and more sense in recent years to consolidate what we publish into a more manageable number of imprints," said Jim Lee, WildStorm Editorial Director. "The idea is to push the WildStorm name and imprint to the forefront so that there is a clear call-out to kickass books. Now we can focus our efforts more than ever on WildStorm and America's Best Comics."

"We're refocusing the publicıs attention on WildStorm as a core brand," said Richard Bruning, DC's Senior VP -- Creative Director. "By putting the WildStorm name on all their projects, whether they're creator-driven, licensed, or part of the WildStorm Universe, it makes it easier for readers to find the books that share that WildStorm style of energy and excitement."

The initial titles bearing the WildStorm Universe brand include Sleeper Season 2 #1, Stormwatch: Team Achilles #23, The Authority #13, Wildcats Version 3.0 #22, The Authority: More Kev #1, Sleeper Volume 2: All False Moves TP and Planetary Volume 3: Leaving The Twentieth Century HC.

The initial titles bearing the WildStorm Signature Series brand include Ex Machina #1, Arrowsmith: So Smart in Their Fine Uniforms TP.

The initial title bearing the WildStorm brand is Thundercats: Enemey's Pride #1.
