X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE -- SLURPEE PROMOTION

7-Eleven has announced another Slurpee promotion for a Marvel movie with X-Men Origins: Wolverine in April, following campaigns for Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, Spider-Man 3, Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer and X-Men: The Last Stand.

The Slurpee cups will feature Wolverine, Sabretotth and Gambit and there will be a new flavor -- Mutant Berry.

"Fox movies and characters -- from the X-Men franchise to The Simpsons -- resonate strongly with Slurpee drinkers," said Jay Wilkins, 7-Eleven brand manager for Slurpee and fountain beverages. "They're irreverent, clever, daring and like to live life on the edge -- all traits that appeal to the youngest Slurpee generation. It's a great beginning to a fun-filled Slurpee season."

A Slurpee beverage will make a brief appearance in X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Blob is seen with a Slurpee beverage much bigger than any found in a 7-Eleven store. His likeness, with Slurpee drink firmly in hand, is one of four collectible X-Men characters adorning Slurpee straws in April. Retailing for $1.69, each X-Men Origins: Wolverine Slurpee straw comes with a removable figure and a base on which to display it.

Besides the lenticular Slurpee cups and character straws, a special Big Gulp cup also has been created for the month-long promotion. Silver in color, the cup is inspired by Wolverine¹s adamantium skeleton featured in the movie as part of the secret Weapon X program.

7-Eleven, for the first time, is also tying hot beverages into the promotion. X-Treme Energy Cappuccino and a refillable stainless steel coffee mug sporting Wolverine's trademark triple claw slash mark will be offered.

DYNAMITE ENTERTAINMENT TO PUBLISH GREEN HORNET

Dynamite Entertainment has announced it has acquired the rights to Green Hornet.

"We've been working on this one for a long time now, I believe four years. Since we started pursuing this, they've also announced a movie for next summer," said Nick Barrucci, Dynamite's president and publisher . "The Green Hornet is a cultural icon and touchstone for modern super-heroes, including the greats like Batman. To work with such a character, and faithfully represent him along the lines of how we've handled The Lone Ranger and Zorro, and the upcoming Buck Rogers, is truly a momentous opportunity.

"Over the last 4 years, fans and creators have asked us if we were negotiating for the Green Hornet license, which we finally have and we will be announcing creators in the near future."

The Green Hornet was created by George W. Trendle for an American radio program in the 1930s. Though various incarnations sometimes change details, in most incarnations the Green Hornet is Britt Reid, a newspaper publisher by day who by night goes out in his masked Green Hornet identity to fight crime as a vigilante, accompanied by his similarly masked Asian manservant Kato and driving a car, equipped with advanced technology, called Black Beauty.

A Green Hornet movie is in development, with Seth Rogan attached to star.
