MARVEL MOVIES ROUNDUP -- UPDATED!

During the company's first-quarter conference call on Tuesday morning, Marvel Studios chairman David Maisel said he anticipates the Spider-Man movie franchise will continue with multiple films.

"There's been no specific plans mentioned, although senion executives at Sony expressed their obvious excitement about the record-setting weekend of Spider-Man 3," Maisel said. "There's every reason to believe that there will be more and more Spider-Man films for all of us going forward, but there's been no specific announcements or dates or ideas that have been talked about yet."

Marvel currently has five films in development to produce on its own -- Captain America, Thor, Ant-Man, Nick Fury and The Avengers -- and Maisel said two of those will likely be released in 2009.

Marvel has Iron Man scheduled for May 3, 2008 and The Incredible Hulk for June 13, 2008. Maisel said he is happy to have the same weekend that Spider-Man 3 had next year for Iron Man and that Marvel will continue to announce release dates earlier than most studios.
